he received the sum of one million dollars. that's roughly equivalent of ten million is todays money. according to government sites, it only has the buying power of about $2.4 million
you actually believe the government sites? I was estimating from the 70's but I can assure you that most things cost 10x what they did then. the government index's don't include everything and much of what they don't include are the highest inflationary items we have; such as taxes, college costs, health care costs, etc
maybe i'm a tad high from the eightys but the government numbers (assuming you are correct) is blatant bull shite.

Dad's an attorney, Right? 160k loan would be fairly easy to obtain.

I'm just curious who paid the 160k annual premium
Both Leonard and his brother went to St. Aug at a cost of around $9,000 a year for each kid. I think his family could afford to get a bank loan.

This is a very low risk loan for a lender
Not really that low of a risk. It's happened in the last 5 years (Lattimore).

Borrow it against the policy. If the policy pays they get paid. If he goes pro and signs a big contract they get paid.

They have some pretty decent security there

You have no idea what youre talking about if you think the us has moved on from race.

No minority would ever think or say this.
Of course not. They've been conditioned to cling to the victim narrative. Most of the minority individuals have moved on anyway, but some will cling to that excuse, especially when unprincipled hucksters peddle it to increase their own fortunes.
Also, most of the white majority have moved on. As the poster wrote earlier, some will always be closed-minded bigots.
To the extent we remained mired in the racist narrative it's mostly those like you, clinging to the civil rights era, who are keeping us there. The rest of us have moved on. Join us.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the school could help contribute to the insurance policies
Why should my tax dollars pay for an insurance policy? Will LSU pay for an insurance policy for the 3rd string right fielder on the girl's softball team or the non-sport freshman from Bunkie, Louisiana?

The athletic dept doesn't get tax dollars.

You clearly don't understand the purpose of this insurance.

Not sure even where to begin with this one.

Then why was the governor threatening to effect football when he spoke of tax cuts?

Because he's a fricking idiot?
It's been discussed ad nauseam how our athletic dept is completely self funded. One of only a handful of schools that can make that claim.

We are saying the LOAN is low risk

It was be about a $1 premium considering her insurance would be for about $100

Also, for those wondering if LSU can help pay it. Yes, they can
quote:
Fox Sports reported earlier this year that Texas A&M University contributed at least $50,000 to the loss-of-value insurance policy for offensive lineman Cedric Ogbuehi, who had initially entered his name into the 2014 NFL Draft before deciding to return to school. Florida State University is paying about $55,000 for a similar policy for Heisman Trophy-winner Jameis Winston, who last year led the Seminoles to an undefeated season and a national championship, according to ESPN.

It absolutely doesn't matter how much money the athletic department makes, if a school's academic programs are suspended.
College athletes are students, and must be enrolled. If there are no classes, they are ineligible.
Players have been taking insurance policies out for years. I wonder (and hope) that South Carolina back did so.

Moscona said yesterday that JR had a 20mil policy when he was at LSU....La'el had one as well, as I'm sure a few other players have done over the years.
