Sorry for your loss man! I lost my father in law in January and my dad in April of last year. Both unexpectedly and two to of the strongest men I knew. Still pains me and I miss both of them terribly! Yes, love your family and friends because we take so much for granted, especially right now with what is going on in our country!

listening to games on WWL with John Ferguson was a great experience. It's all you had for most games.

Condolences for your loss and may your father's soul rest in peace. Lost my dad (LSU1959) 12/13/19. Wish he could have made it just a bit longer but he did get to witness 2 nattys and he was in school for one of them.

So many great messages from EVERYONE! Thanks bro Red. We all need a little cheering up every now and then - especially when someone we have known our entire life who we loved, respected, admired, and enjoyed being around has left us. All the messages were appreciated and it was comforting to read each and every one of them. One more story that I want to share....
We asked Dad a few months ago who the head coach at LSU was and he didn't hesitate and was very adamant and sure of his answer despite the progression of alzheimers: "Well everyone knows its ENSMINGER!" That brought a smile and laugh to us all. Big "E" and I were childhood friends, HS classmates, and enjoyed playing sports together from little league through HS. He remembered him like he was a brother.

Very sorry for your loss. I lost my grandfather a few days ago, also a diehard LSU fan and epitome of a gentleman. Prayers for you and your family!
On another note, what type of POS downvotes a post of this nature?!

Didn't get any better than that. Every Saturday night in the fall.

God bless you and your family. Sorry for this great loss. My dad introduced me to LSU football when I was young. I remember being at the camp on Red River for our annual squirrel hunting gang of hunters. Saturday night we would all be huddled around the radio listening to the LSU tigers while a Judge and an attorney was playing chess. A large black pot of squirrel Jambalaya was on the stove and plenty of beer and bourbon. Dads and their sons at the camp. Bunk beds and pine knot paneled walls. And one older gentleman, who always awoke in the early morning hours while still dark to get ready to drive out to our posts for the morning hunt, would shout: “How sweet it is!” Doesn’t get much better than that and an LSU win Saturday night made the Sunday morning hunt even better.

I lost my Dad 17 years ago. I think about him everyday. He was 86 when he died. I feel blessed that I was able to enjoy so many memories with him and share the passion of LSU sports. I remember being introduced to LSU football at an early age sitting around the dining room table listening to John Ferguson and Walter Hill on KWKH playing on my Dad’s Zenith radio. I’d give anything to be able to do that one more time.
Losing your Dad will hurt for awhile and it won’t be easy going through the next LSU football season without him but things wii get better and the good memories will take over. God bless you and your family.

Your father would have played on the same team as my dad . He was from Rayville and passed 25 years ago . I still think about him daily . Fathers day brings back some great memories .

I get on the interstate at Rayville whenever I go up to our camp house on Lake D'arbonne. I usually stop at that gas station that has the truck stop in the back and the Subway sandwiches in the shop.
