Good point Alt, though you left out Kentuck...maybe because it probably won't matter.
Surprisingly UK isn't really that much of an uptempo team. They rank 221 in tempo on KenPom (compare LSU who is 21). UK's game isn't necessarily to "outrun" you. They just use their size to play absolutely suffocating defense in the half cout. It's almost impossible to get a good look inside.
UNC is going to try to speed the game up today. It will be interesting to see UK's defense vs. UNC's uptempo offense.
The one team I probably forgot to mention is Alabama. They seem to be MUCH improved this year, and look like they have gotten away from their usual slow-paced, grind it out defensive style. Of course, that might change come SEC play

We need to make a statement and be 11-2 going into SEC play

Yep. Gotta keep the momentum going from West Virginia.

No question...can't have another Rhode Island. And IMHO SHSU is better than the Rhode Island team that came here and beat us.
After a very disappointing start, this team looks to maybe be ready to have the type of progression that we should expect the last couple of games. The kind I kind of expected last year but never really saw on a consistent basis.

LSU MUST be 11-2 going into conf. play. After tonight, there are no even "good" teams remaining on the OOC schedule.
Plus, the 1st half of the SEC isn't necessarily brutal (on paper).
@ Mizzou who is struggling
UGA should be decent, but the game is @ home
@ Ole Miss who is (pardon the pun) "hit and miss"
home against A&M who has looked good at times
@ UF (they should be improved)
@ Vandy who is always tough
Home against USCe
@ MSU (not a great team)
AU at home (improving, but still not good)
The only one that looks like a likely loss is @ UF. Ole Miss and Vandy could be toss-ups, but LSU should be favorite in both. The schedule gets a bit tougher in the 2nd half with Bama and UK, as well as games at A&M and Ark.

And we should do that Alt, but we all remember last year.
If we do, what do you think the magic number of SEC games needed to get into the dance is? 11?

Before the umass and WVU games I thougut 9-9 was best case scenario. now I'm thinking 11-12 wins which should get us in as a 7-8 seed.
Of course unless we lose today then back to 9-9 and NIT.

the 9 day lay off felt like a month.

It really did. I know it was for finals, but still, even the Christmas break won't be this long.

Me too because, not because I thought we couldn't do better but just because we were playing so badly and some of the problems looked to be recurring issues that were concerning.
I think we showed we have the talent to get to 11-12. The question is whether we can maintain the strides we made the last two games.

Will probably need at least 11 wins in Conf play with some of those 11 wins coming against the group of: UK (home), Bama (home), UF (home and away); Ark. (away); UGA (home). That's six chances to get good/great wins on the resume. Four of them in the PMAC.

I think 11 wins is very reasonable for this team in this conference. And you still have the SEC tourney to make your case as well.
In fact I'd consider it a disappointment if we don't get to that mark.

Tipoff coming up in a few. Let's see some total domination by the Tigers.

I’m watching the OK State – Memphis while waiting for the Tigers game. Hickey has looked pretty good in the first half. Made a two pointer a little before the buzzer. He has started all 8 games for the Cowboys.
Now Geaux Tigers!
