"A man who doesn't spend time with his family can never be a real man."

Don Corleone.

Good move. I think your man card is safe.

At least throw some passive agressive guilt trip to get waited on today. "Hey babe, bring me a beer." "How about a ham sandwich?" "How about a quickie during half time?"

I would hope your marriage is no longer fellatio free for your sacrifice.

Keep your man card, you've earned it.

Coach Miles would be proud of you.

I did that a few years ago, my wife and daughters were ecstatic when I told them "I bought y'all tickets to Wicked, of course they were real expensive, and after a tough decision I'm going to stay home." All the benefits from wife and gratitude from kids without having to go, or sacrifice football tickets...

Usually I would say the game is just a freakin game and your family will not remember a stupid game. However, I have a feeling that you will always remember the time you gave up tickets to possibly one of the greatest football games played to go see a freakin musical. At least it will be the family joke when your kids get older.

This is a fantastic point. The only recourse for the OP is to root for Alabama to win the game, thus softening the blow of trading away his tickets to the game.

You never know what wife and kids may have in store for you down the road for making that sacrifice. Cool thing is you wont have to remind them (as women are very forgetful about the things we do for them) the fact that this rivalry has gone to a level that's now "out of this universe", and will roll around next year and each year afterward, you will only have to just smile !!!!

Ha! I'll go the other route - LSU starting a huge blowout by the first quarter will soften the blow.
