Tell me which NBA coach you think that Jones is remotely like. Please.

The only guy I could possibly think of is Byron Scott.

To run and gun and push the pace. We were second in the SEC in ppg this year behind Kentucky. Sounds like whatever plan that is in place is working to me. We just were missing some pieces mainly at the pg position, perimiter defense and shot blocker. We also missed free throws at crucial point this year. Hornsby and Victor missed key non conference losses which hurt us also.

I agree with your points. I think it was more roster related than anything else. When Johnny came in I never expected him to be an Xs and Os guru. I expected us to run and to have great athletes like Mickey and Tyrus to erase shots. That's what we were missing this year. We went zone because we were so short on depth. Johnny is not a zone defense type of guy.

i agree with your points, but you can't label johnny as not being a zone type guy. Kids learn how to play zone in grade school. We didnt have that rim protector, I agree. But the perimeter defense was just as god awful. And if someone was driving the lane against our defense, johnny must have told them to get out the way cause thats what continuously happened. The defense was about as bad as ive ever seen.

Not bad. Saw him up close in NJ too. However, while Scott was generally less active and standing on the sidelines, he was super intense. He never had a puzzled look on his face, at least in NJ. Generally unlike-able, probably due to his intensity, and quickly wears out his welcome when things aren't going extremely well.

Still waiting for hoops7's example since he basically called Jones an NBA style coach.

doesn't really matter how many points you score if you can't score more than you're opponent.......Texas Tech Football.

Do you know who the 3rd highest scoring team in the NBA is behind Golden State and OKC?
Sacramento, and their 26-40 record. working out real well for them being a high scoring team

I'm sure you're friends with Johnny or related or whatever based on your posts the last few days. He's not a good basketball coach. We could have taken probably 10-15 high school coaches from this state that could have gotten this team to the NCAA tourney easily.

We didn't need a PG the last two years, we needed a coach worth a shite.

Yea the closing out on shooters was unexplainable and definitely reflects effort. The defending the penetration and shot blocking is personnel to me. Our team was missing an athletic and strong defender. He may not be the best scorer but he is strong and put up resistance when an opposing guard takes it to the rim. TQ and AB are scrawny. The guard from Alabama manhandled TQ. I think you also want your best player to be your hardest work and Ben coasts on defense and I think that infected the team. Also Craig Victor who only averages 5rp and is not a leaper by any means was asked to play center . Center!

We took a chance on Gray and it did not pan out. We have recruited some and were even in the finalist for Malik Newman. The basketball program is not a house name and still has to offer scholarships to players who are projects to have enough numbers to compete ... Darcy Malone and Bridgewater would not get an offer from LSU last year or this year.

I agree with your assessment based on the first three sentences and the last.

If Johnny is allowed to say another four or five years he may fulfill your fourth sentence. The immediate damage in recruiting will begin to show in November 2016, however. If the 2017-18 LA HS class is as good as all say, it will be even more obvious the following November [2017]. Superior talent wants to play where it can be developed to the next level. That didn't happen and folks will remember that for quite a while.

LSU needed a pg the past two years and some competent low post players...Basically, we're 2 or 3 starters and 2 or 3 decent bench players away from having a respectable basketball team, sans the coach...Simple, right?

Serious question:

When was the last time LSU had a true facilitating PG?
