people need to get it through their heads that “at the time they played” is not the rankings anyone actually uses.
not the CFP Committee, not the AP, not the coaches, etc.

they look at Texas as a 4 loss unranked team that is an underdog to Baylor this week, not as a top 10 team in week 2.

Auburn likely will be outside of the top 15 due to 3 losses when the poll comes out tonight.

the committee when talking about their ranking each week always say the phrase “opponents CURRENTLY ranked ....”

I would not be shocked if MI finally gets them this year.

The committee did.

If we keep doing what we've been doing, we'll be fine.

And tOSU beating Penn State isn't a given.

No matter what, if you go undefeated in the SEC with 5 top 10 wins, two of which would be top 4 wins, there's no way we aren't the #1 seed. I don't care if OSU goes undefeated.

Nah. If LSU knocks out 2 of the top 4 teams, they deserve to be #1. The rest of their season doesn't matter. Nobody else can claim a better resume. I just hoe the CFP committee sees how clear the decision should be.

This is my thinking as well.

Is there any real incentive to holding on to the #1 spot beyond assuming that the #4 team is a going to be an Oregon/Utah/Oklahoma team that is supposedly an easier matchup than OSU or Clemson?

Playing in Atlanta as the #1 seed against an Oregon team traveling from the West Coast is clearly advantage LSU over playing Clemson in Phoenix as the #2 seed.

How many ranked teams will we have beaten if we win out?

More than Ohio St for sure.

And, it is very likely that we will have beaten two teams that were in the Top 4 when we played them and both of those teams will still be in the Top 10. Both of those teams will be ranked higher than any team Ohio St would have beaten.

I get what your saying and agree. But your making the assumption the system is fair, it's far from it.

It doesn't matter who's 1 or 2. The media wants Burrow vs tOSU headline. Who hasn't figured this out yet?

What the media and fans want doesn't matter to the committee

If the committee re-evaluates after each week, starting from scratch (as they claim), then a Penn St win this week may elevate them to #1, a subsequent win over Michigan certainly could...but a win over a top-four Georgia team moves LSU back on top.

LSU winning big the next two weeks is, well, big.

Guess the committee will just forget about the five top 10 wins this year out of 13 games that will habe been played. But I mean hey....OSU will have beaten a really sick Michigan team that will have three losses by that time.....

Sometimes you people are just as retarded as could possibly be.

Unless LSU loses they are the top seed. No matter what the score is.

An sec championship win over another top 5 team even if it's by one point is better than any win by OSU this entire season. And again....that will be the fifth one of the year.

But yeh ....you're totally right.
