I think our receivers will prove to be the best position group on our team. OBJ and Landry are truly elite athletes. Both will be starters in the NFL. We also have depth, with some guys who have shown very good skills.

I agree, I think '07 was a good example of what CLM wants from the O. Get 'em down early, throw it down the field, put the game away, then pound it down their throat in the 4th qtr.

I see a bunch of passing yards against Washington(not Davey-01 Bama type numbers). After that we have 13 more games to get a 300 yard game. Maybe one of the cupcakes, maybe not. Possibly Arkansas or A&M turns into a small shootout where Mett puts up 300
I'd actually expect a big passing game against one of the better, but not elite, defenses we face. Basically, I expect people to try and stop our running game first. Most teams (like last year) won't be able to stop that even when they commit to it so we'll just run for a bunch of yards on them anyway (like last year). But a couple of the better defenses (maybe Miss. State, Florida and South Carolina) might be able to really slow down our rushing attack by committing heavily to it. But they won't have the defense to do that and shut down our passing game, so Mett will rack up a bunch of yards as we take what the defense gives us rather than forcing the run on them whether they are leaving the pass open or not.

As I recall, that was largely the formula against Bama in '01, when they were able to stymy our (much weaker then) running game, but only by leaving themselves vulnerable to the blistering assault of Davey to Reed.

I think that we will see Mett throw for over 300 a few times this next season. If the spring game was any indication, we will see a lot of passing this season.

From what I've been reading (and hearing) OBJ & Landry catch everything thrown at them and each are making at least one circus catch per session.

How awesome would it be if Mett had over 30 TD passes? I am a stats guy, so I would love to see that. 3,000+ yards passing would be pretty nice too, but I prefer the 30+ TD passes, obviously.

I'm right with you on that. I think we pass more against S. Carolina and Miss St because of their DL. Also we'll pass all day in the Arkansas and Washington games too because of their more talented QBs.

I believe Mett probably throws around 150-200 at the half of all the cupcakes and he finishes around 200-250 before taking him out in the 4th. In those seven games I potentially see him at about 1600yds. I don't think it'll be too hard at all to get around 1000yds in the other 5 for my preseason prediction of 2600+yds and 25+TDs total.

Shep needs to be our short to intermediate guy. Landry and becks will be the deep threat.
