Your support is irrelevant. He has NOT lost the team's support.

And im sure he was in contact with players, watched film, shite like that. He was just overly trusting in his assistants I guess. Looks like he's making necessary changes, which is really the only important thing right now.

I have doubts he even watched video as too many guys just don't exhibit SEC level skills on the team. I really question how time he spent on evaluating kids, much less sifting through Grewe and Sanchez's player reports and recommendations. Otherwise, he would not seem so surprised by the lack of ability demonstrated in the field this season. Maybe he gave Grewe autonomy at ND with success, but it sure didn't work at LSU.

Giving Javy more authority and letting him recruit all the hitters that he doesnt teach how to hit and waves in to be thrown out at home sounds like a great

It's definitely put up or shut up time for Coach DiNardo. Give him credit for realizing and admitting his mistakes, but it looks like Gerry is going to sink or swim with BBQ buddy Tepper. (Author of "Complete Hitting, Base Running and Graduate Assisting") Apparently, PM thinks only bringing in a new pitching coach, in addition to being more hands on will be enough to right the sinking ship. He's taking a big risk in just sanitizing the bathroom, when the whole house needs cleaning.............

I'm not going to believe he had absolutely no idea who the recruits were when they would sign their letters of intent.

No way

I agree. I do think that he got a big head after the CWS Championship and thought he could put the program on cruise control, but no way he was that hands off IMO.

That's not a slight of our staff as much as a slight of me.

Then he shouldn't have fired anyone. It would have been sufficient to just insert himself more directly into the recruiting process.

Glad to see it but I also think Paul needs to show a little more fire and get on players more. Our teams sometimes look like they're just going through the motions. Sometime I think he needs to be more like this.

That's embarrassing for a grown man to act like that. Plus, Auggie is obviously a racist....

I knew Auggie would be a rant hero after that, its the only way a coach can win. That must be what got the team going in 2008 when we went on that long winning streak.

am a Mainieri guy, but shite Paul, use your head. Delegating is fine if you have top notch assistants (Rooney and Godwin).

And that is the root of the problem- Sanchez & Grewe did not come close to the ability of Rooney and Goodwin as assistants. Sanchez may one day become a top assistant, but he is nowhere close to that right now. With our budget and support of LSU baseball, we should be able to attract top notch assistants. I don't care if they only stay for a couple of years, if they are the best candidates for coaching & recognizing talent, then hire them.

So CPM is leaving half the team in the hands of a 28 year old.. Yea.. That will get things done.

Marquess was hired as the HC at Stanford when he was 28.

Knowing the kids' names vs analyzing their abilities, chance of success at high level college ball, and how they would fit the specific needs of current and future squads are totally different. Other than the known studs which required little work what did happen with all the others? When was the last time the team had a legitimate starters at the corners that have started 2+ seasons for the team? How about the gaping black hole of talent in the outfield sans MM since 2009? Where are the +players that a top tier SEC team should have? Yeah, I bet he put a ton of time into questioning/analyzing who LSU was signing in 2009/2010 outside of pitchers.
