Bo Pelini had a very similar player when he was the defensive coordinator at Nebraska - Demorrio Williams. Williams was at 6'1, 205 pounds and playing linebacker in the Big 12.

He originally walked on at Kilgore College playing cornerback and transferred to Nebraska for his final two years.

At Nebraska, playing linebacker, he became:

-First Team All-Big 12
-Butkus Award Semifinalist
-Team Captain
-Nebraska record for unassisted tackles
-Drafted 4th Rd to the Falcons
quote:

Williams started all 16 of the Falcons' regular-season games of the 2005 NFL season, recording 132 tackles, and ranking second on his team for that statistic. He had a career-high 15 tackles in a December 12, 2005 game against the New Orleans Saints.

quote:

On March 1, 2008, Williams signed a five-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. After 4 seasons with Chiefs, Williams was released on March 6, 2012.[1]

At Nebraska, Williams was so good at getting to the QB, Bo would even put him as a fifth lineman/rush end on third-downs. The kid was light as can be, but just made plays.

Point being, Brooks probably can't cover for shite and is a liability in the secondary. Unfortunately for him, we've got guys that can cover and are better suited to play the safety position. Listen to and trust your coaches, Brooks. They've been around a lot longer, and know a hell of a lot more about the position than you do.

Well, he needs to take note of Jacoby and how he embraced the position changes and all it is doing is making him more versatile and giving him a better chance of being drafted.

So it’s not reasonable to think Brooks could be 220-225 by the time he leaves?

Sure but what about in the mean time?

Look at his pictures. If he snuck into the WRs room they wouldn’t notice anyone out of place

It’s reasonable to believe he could be 215-220 by August. He is still young and his frame could easily put on 15-20 pounds of good weight in the summer.

O-linemen will have a lot harder time getting to the second level against 2-2 gap DT's because one will be Shelvin and he"ll most likely command a double team from guard and center and other guard occupied by other DT, unless Shelvin gets washed immediately they will have a lot harder time getting to lb'ers, therefore freeing them up to make plays and with Brooks' speed he can corral RB'S sideline to sideline.

Show him how much money he will make in the NFL if he transitions to LB successfully with his speed.

Dude that was two months ago. What have they done lately? Haven’t even won a game since then. I think the game may have passed O by.

He’ll be needed at S in 2021 and will take over Jacoby duties but in 2020 he’s gonna be the 3rd LB or 3rd S (close to LOS).

I heard the reason why he is being tapped to play linebacker is that Jacoby Stevens has declined to move to linebacker. If Jacoby had agreed to be moved to linebacker, Marcel Brooks would have been moved to safety.

I don't think they are going to push Jacoby cause he was good enough to come back for his senior system, plus he is a veteran.

If Jabril Cox decided to commit to LSU, that will probably happen.

Mo is hurt and the coaches absolutely love Harris. They think he is Delpit level good.

But yeah I agree about SS/FS distinction

Marcel ought to gain weight either way because his skill set is best suited for attacking. Would help to have 15-20lbs whether he is at safety or LB. dude also needs to check his attitude, the coach is trying to give him a path to the field. Safety is a crowded position, LB is not.

He is being forced into line backer because Jacoby said no......or that is the rumor. So maybe he is following the lead of him.

Brooks is 200

Vs 211. Big difference

But let’s see how much weight he can put on his first full offseason.

He is good at rushing the QB, but he could do it from safety position.

you also have to be able to cover from the Safety position.. not his strong suit... he should embrace the challenge of becoming a LB and make millions 2 years from now...
