Well he had like 16 carries himself..Idk dude he hasn't turned the ball over yet this year. Florida wasnt sacking anybody that game ,I've never seen a great team suck so bad on the o and d line. They let our o line hold them to two qb hurries /hits and 0 sacks. They dont move the los on offense either

Uunder fire , wasnt really under fire ,those stats were against the blitz but he was only hit 2 times

Joe has a pretty deep ball that is accurate. Max has a deep ball that seemed to hang in the air for years.

Didn't Joe Burrow work on his arm strength after the 2018 season? I think Max is the real deal he has the running ability and the smarts to read the defense pre-snap. I think we got a good one so hopefully he works on that arm strength in the offseason.

Yall do realize that the first deep ball was thrown like that on purpose right? Go watch how early he threw it. Watch Russell wilson he throws rainbows too. If its accurate it's easier to catch

O doesnt have to beg any of the QB's to stay or come, for that matter... Great programs deal with this issue on a regular basis.
I believe 1 of the 3 current QB's will leave the program, BEFORE spring ball starts. I dont think Myles, having waited for his shot here, will consider leaving before spring ball unless Max shines and
the team wins out (Max is likely to likely start the rest of the season and get his game-film/# of game-reps, in an effort to equalize and properly analyze the 3 QB's from a statistical standpoint.
TJ may be the one that considers entering the portal BEFORE spring ball begins/ends. Im sure with Covid and an easier ability to get transfer waivers and whatnot, Finley may decide he wants to compete for a starting job elsewhere and if its a P5 program, he'll be advised to leave sooner than later to have a chance to compete in spring ball and/or be adequately prepared for competition in fall camp.
If I was placing odds on whom transfers: Brennen= 30% (will rise to a near certainty if MJ balls out and LSU wins out), Max= 15% and I'd put TJ's odds at 40% right now to leave.

I think all the times he came in late in games has to be taken with an asterisk. The teams we were playing were definitely playing more of a prevent defense at that point and were fine giving up some yards. I thought he did well against Florida, but he did miss an awful lot of short throws.

Coach’s son. That’s why I couldn’t understand why O started Finley when he said it was a toss up. If it’s a toss up, go with the kid that grew up immersed in football.
Please don't tell me that outside agitator Carpetbaggers influenced the decision.
The two QB's are like day and night.
Maximus Johnson looks like a younger Big Dick Joe Burrow.
They have the same (And much needed) QB intangibles......

**I don’t want to be negative, but Max’s arm strength is gonna be a factor eventually, if not this week. I always laugh when people argue deep balls when discussing arm strength as if that matters even a fraction as much as being able to fit it into tight windows when they appear. I love Max—he balled his fricking arse off Saturday and seems to be a smart, poised, athletic gamer.
But he also seems to be a walking pick 6 waiting to happen. When teams see on film how weak his arm is (lack of velocity) and that we have to cut off half the field mostly to make up for it, corners are gonna start jumping those outs and taking em down the sidelines to the house. I was pretty surprised Florida didn’t do it, honestly. Hopefully we can get by Ole Miss, and he can figure out a way to get some more torque in his core and add velocity going into next fall. I love everything about him but this. But it matters, and I think TJ’s arm gives the offense a much higher ceiling. I’ve seen people invoking Burrow’s arm strength regarding Max, and even though Joe doesn’t have the strongest arm in the world, he’s currently on another planet than Max. But we only saw 4th and 5th year Burrow’s arm, so I’m hopeful Max can find some more velocity as he develops.

really like Brennan, but from Johnson’s first series under center LSU has “IT” when he is in there. That can’t be coached, you either have it or you don’t. Burrow had IT in spades and Johnson has what it takes as well.
Holy shite. The Max love has jumped the shark.

That makes sense on a surface area, but think about how different their games are. Max is much more athletic, but has a weak arm. To take advantage of his strengths and hide his weakness, you have to develop a different game plan or even entire offense for him as E and staff did beautifully Saturday.
But with TJ having the stronger arm, he was much more ready to run an offense similar to what we’d been running with Brennan. They had to adjust to TJ’s lack of foot speed, but his arm opened up the whole field like Myles’, so there was a lot less adjustment needed for game planning and play calling. When that quit working, they had to pivot and change the offense to fit Max.That’s what makes the most sense to me anyway.
And let’s not shite on TJ because Max was phenomenal Saturday. TJ stepped up in a crazy year and played as a true freshman and played better than just about everybody not in his family thought him capable of. This year, anyway. There were tons of dudes on the Recruiting Board swearing he would never play a meaningful down at LSU (I guess it could be argued none of our downs this year were meaningful
And obviously Max impressed me and everybody else against Florida. But we don’t have to pick sides ever, especially now. We can like and support both QBs and be honest in our praise and criticisms without bashing the other. I just hope the genie isn’t already out of the bottle on that one, but I’ve seen enough posts the last couple of months to know that hope is likely futile. It always eventually goes this way. And when 1 is white and the other black, this way always winds up turning ugly. Despite chicken shite pussies like semjase trying to cloak their blatant biases in weak “wink wink” words and phrases.
For the record, I myself am biased deciding between 2 quarterbacks. But my bias is usually toward the guy with the bigger arm, because I think it just opens more things up and gives the offense a higher ceiling. But I’m certainly not “choosing” TJ over Max. Being able to pick up yards with your legs is a tremendous asset as well. So I’ll cheer for them both to be as successful as possible.

Jesus. You are comparing 5th year senior Heisman winner who played for two championship programs under Urban, Day, and Brady, to a kid who was playing high school ball in Georgia this time last year. Can we be a little patient?

I have a friend who is a small college OC text me this during the game:
Finley does have a cannon but no where close to the skill set. Those small steps to avoid rush and extend play are one example. You may not get to see it the rest of the game but watch Johnson’s footwork. Some is taught but much of it is natural

Yall act like Finley has sucked.
Prior to Saturday, Finley’s highs were higher than Johnson’s. And his lows were lower.
Now, you have Johnson delivering the single best QB performance and he hasn’t shown to be a turnover machine like Finley.
Both guys have their best days ahead of them. But right now, Max has taken a significant lead and will get all of the snaps until he performs poorly.

And let’s not forget that the rant was ready to bench Myles and anoint Finley after the USCe game.

This seems clear to me, that Max has a higher floor because of who his dad is, but also a lower ceiling because of who his dad is. He’s more polished and doesn’t have the room to develop too terribly much more.
While TJ does have more room to develop, which gives him the higher ceiling. But as we’ve seen with his turnovers, also the lower floor. Will be interesting to see it play out.

Sure. We definitely need to see more of Max throwing the deep ball to get an accurate picture. I’m just saying that first one he threw had an insanely high arc. I don’t think the other ones he has thrown had the same arc to be fair. The TD he threw in the Auburn game didn’t, but his throw to on the double move against UF was kind of hard to judge due to the fog and angle.
