Being as this was the point in the 2003 season where "the greatest team of all time" Oklahoma lost the first of two games, I'm holding off on that. ALOT can change in a conference championship game and a NC game.

Bamas run D is better than both those teams and we beat them. No disagreeing that this isn't the BEST TEAM EVER, but your reason is lacking.

We must have posted at the same time. Would be fun to watch!

You gotta include special teams, though, and our offense is not too shabby either, so I think it would be an epic game myself - this year's Tigers versus the 2004 Trojans....

why?

i'm just talking matchups

if you have an elite run D, you can stop this LSU team with our QB/passing issues. bama did it

Bama's offense is mediocre, so if we played a team with a complete/good offense, ON TOP OF the run D issue, we'd have problems. USC 04 and UM 01 were both dominant against the run with a ton of offensive talent (vastly superior QBs/WRs to Bama this year)

I think the team will be ready but good point. As crazy as it sounds, all we have right now is the SEC West banner.

i'll just keep this simple and say that 2001 Miami or 2004 USC would not have too much trouble with this LSU team

And who did they beat? This is the same argument we heard during the early part of the last decade before the national media realized the superiority of the SEC. You judge these teams based on playing overrated non-SEC competition.

Miami played 1 top ten team and 3 teams ranked in the teens.
USC played 2 top ten teams and one other ranked in the teens.

They never faced an SEC team ,rather, playing overrated big 10 and pac 12 competition.

Against this year's athletes on defense? With Les Miles and Chavis, and time to prepare before the championship game? I like our chances.

ETA - defensive speed makes the difference I think.

We will have to wait until 2020 to compare 2011 LSU to 2001 Miami. I say this because it will take that long to see how much talent was on this LSU team.

Yup. and I look at that team and still think its better. No one on our current DL can dominate a game like Lavalais could. Lavalais, Dorsey, Spears, Kyle Williams. Hill. We don't have a better DL than that. Secondary? I think they all made the NFL. Landry, Webster, Jackson, et al. Then the WR's? 03 was definitely better. Henderson, Clayton v. Randle and Beckahm? No contest. I give the edge at RB to 11 team BUT keep in mind you had a healthy AB who DID set the rushing record the next year and a Joseph Addai so I say even. OL? Whitworth, Wilkerson, Peterman just plain better.

Good point as far as individual talent is concerned.

I agree with this, and it's what Chris Low on SEC blog for ESPN said. Lupica sucks and should be ignored.

Holy shite you're being a homer. Look at the NFL talent on the 01 Miami team. You can dispute USC because of what they turned out to be imo. 2001 Miami is still, right now, the best team ever assembled and it's not even close.

He'll be a part, but I'm guessing we'll start with a healthy dose of JJ and Michael Ford, since that's what Bama's defense seems to have the most trouble with (see the GA Southern game.....)

They would "qualify" to be in the discussion...as Les said in the postgame presser.

if we win out 2004 usc doesnt hold a candle to us. look at their schedule. it was easier and they had 3 or 4 games decided by less than 10 points. 2001 miami does though
