And he doesn't have to go through the qualification trials like he would if he competed for the US.
This is why he is repping Sweden. The idiots in the United States we’re going to force him to qualify. Before putting him on the team.

I know you’re not so stupid that you don’t already understand this….but I’ll explain it anyway.
I can care less who’s cheering for who…that has nothing to do with my comment.
It’s the vitriol and fake outrage associated with a guy playing a game for another country that’s kinda shameful.

Saying it's NOT semantics to say someone can coach someone but at the same time can't be a coach is just awesome. I mean....it's perfect.

All of the US track athletes currently have their personal coaches at the games actively coaching them
Mondo would have been no different
Saying his “parents couldn’t coach him” is just blatantly false, and you know that

Not at all. I'm saying it's accuracy is found in it's meaning, not the verbiage. hence, your game of semantics.
Your accusing me of lying. Your'e saying others are wrong or false all without concern to the meaning but rather use of words. You've based an entire argument on semantics but then deny it and continue to argue semantics.
Rather than searching for clarification or meaning, your default has been to assume, invalidate and it's argumentative.
I'm sure some people didn't know the difference. I'm sure many did. You refuse to acknowledge the difference if it's not phrased a certain way even if/when you know the meaning of what someone is trying to say.

Would the duplantis family be destitute without the coaching salary from Sweden or something?

I don't necessarily fault Mondo for using his position as leverage for his family. And, it reduces an expense for him because even if he competed for the US, he'd still want his father to privately coach him and now he gets that but he doesnt have to pay for it. So, it's a win/win for them. As crooked and gross the IOC, USOC, USATAF, etc. are, I think things could be "negotiated" by 2028 in LA so he competes as an American on his home soil but I just don't know how much interest there is anymore on either side.
He is literally the Swedish Summer Olympic poster boy.

Would be a mistake at this point for the US to take him IMHO.
Not sure how it works for Track, but for tennis purposes once you play for another country as a US citizen you can’t come back

You say this like there’s not an actual record of accomplishments.
In 2018 at age 18 he jumped 6.05 m (19’10”). Sam Kendricks won the 2016 US trails at 5.91m. He won bronze in Rio 5.85m the guy who won gold jumped 6.03m
Duplantis broke the WR 4 times in Feb-March of 2020 yet would still have had to qualify in trails to make the US Olympic team.

There is positives and negatives to the US qualification procedures
But I don’t think the US should make exceptions for mondo. They have far bigger starts that don’t get exceptions

They should have made modifications in 1992 but agreed, they won't change prior to 2028 but I won't rule it out down the road.

What gives you the right to judge other people’s income/livelyhood? They made a decision that’s better for them why don’t care?

He claims that not being paid is the same thing as not being allowed to coach.
I’m just trying to figure out why that would be the case?

Why should he be given special treatment?
By what you say it should be easy for him to make it.
Every other track and field athlete had to try out.

On the one hand, Mondo did what was best for himself monetarily which I don't fault at all. On the other hand, he's American in every facet of life except for where his mom was born so I can see why it rubs some people the wrong way that he isn't competing for the US.
It’s the global equivalent to Landon Collins. I refuse to celebrate this guy. Don’t give a shite if he was a Tiger.
You’re an American. You compete for the USA or you don’t compete at all. Not sure why they allow these bs loopholes. The US can just go import talented athletes across the board since they’re gonna just allow it like this.

We’re not talking about just earning a living. We’re talking about representing your country. That means a lot to many people and it should not be something you flip flop around on based on who gives the most money.
I don’t know how this is so hard to comprehend for some of yall. It’s an honor to be good enough to represent your country. He’s a sell out. 100% call it what it is.
Anyone defending this choice is simply doing so only because he went to LSU. If this is a Bama kid we’re talking about then he can go straight to hell.
