The NCAA created this cluster in every single stupid decision they’ve made. They made their bed and now they can watch as they’re pushed aside and a commissioner takes over.

They are going to have to start offering multiple year contracts and pay the money over time.
Like the NFL
Think what a cluster frick it would be if every NFL player signed a one year contract.

Why? Should regular students not be able to transfer schools too or just athletes?
No "regular student" in their right mind would hop from school-to-school as many of their credits wouldn't transfer with them.

sure they can transfer just like any other student can transfer.
attend all new classes at the new school and everything.
they just need to sit out of a sport for a year.
but just like regular students, there aren't any restriction on going to actual school.

surely you know there's a massive difference.
Okay I'll bite.

Athletes are involved in a competitive sports league, where rules should be applied to ensure fair competition among the teams in the league.
And athletes can only transfer inside of approved windows and not inside of a given season. There are rules, you just don't like them.
quote:
Unlimited money and unlimited transfers destroys rosters and results in a feeding frenzy (every year) for all the players. The "haves" can get a lot more talent than the "have nots" and players can be poached every year.
We really going to pretend there weren't haves and have nots before the new portal rules? Also, Indiana is currently in the CFP semis along with Ole Miss. Seems like the have nots are doing okay.
quote:
That's very, very bad for the overall health of a sports league.
CFB ratings are up and we have two non traditional powers in the final four with the portal being the way it is.
You can say you don't like the rules all you want but there are more poeple watching cfb than ever, we have players making more money than ever and we have more non traditional powers in the championship hunt than ever. Those are facts.

Regular students do transfer, but not every frickin year.
They could theoretically if they wanted to.

We had this rule before and it got eliminated because it's illegal. This doesn't get fixed without a CBA otherwise it's market manipulation and a violation of labor laws.

I’m fine with NIL but the portal transfer system is unsustainable. If they fix the portal then NIL will calm down. No more jumping for the bag year to year.Allow one transfer in a 3 year period without penalty. It will take a CBA to get it done but it needs to get done.

Sick of it too. Wish we could go back to under the table money without the portal.
More players are being paid than the under the table method.
The players are not going back after having tasted the sugar.
Wringing my hands and stomping my feet is not bringing it all back.
Navigating the current system and exploiting it to the max for LSU is all I care about.
LSU will win some and lose some with personnel and good coaches will always adapt.

Relevance?
You should ask the dumbass that wanted to compare the benefits regular students get compared to athletes that question.
quote:
That doesn’t mean the student is beholden and has to finish their education at that same institution that originally made that offer should another opportunity with better terms become available.
This is you being a moron and comparing them to regular students again.
What restrictions are in place that prevent athletes from finishing their education at whatever place they want?

You should stop trying to use terms you don’t understand.

Give every athlete 1 free pass, 2nd for special circumstances,
Why do they need a second transfer for a 4 year career? One free transfer, manage it and learn to be able to manage life, it changes. Any additional transfer and you sit out a year. Better make good decision, on your initial commitment and if not you get one free change of heart wish.

It has kill college sports, I have no interest anymore. High bid wins , good coaches will retire, no way do they want to fight this crap can’t blame them

Establishment of an NFL sponsored Semi-Pro Football League would fix it.
Right out of high school, you select either Semi-Pro Football or College Football.
NO NIL for College, just Athletic or Academic scholatships
NFL Draft for both, but those choosing College have to play 4 YEARS minimum or get a Degree to be eligible for the Draft.
You don't want to study, take tests, go to class or get a Degree, then go Semi-Pro and vice versa.
