Not to forget Greg Ward...Sammaje Perine, MCCaffery, Gallman, Royce Freeman, and a dozen others.
LF needs to be saved for big games. He was gassed by the time we got to ALA and was seriously injured by Collins & Foster's hits in 2014 ALA game: Kiffin and Saban are a little smarter, they don't just line up and run at you regardless". WISC has the #1 Scoring Def allowing 13.5 pts/gm, and we were running LF into the D that Aranda built.
Miles' Heisman campaign for LF was the cause of the loss at WISC. LF was dinged up w/a pre-season high ankle sprain and had 11 carries for 35 yds lst Half, 0 TDs in the game, and aggravated his injury. Running LF into a stacked box is risking his future. Miles own coaches have tried to get him not to do that vs ALA, ARK.
O-Line Pass Protection: BH was Sacked 3 times and hurried 8 times and made the Scapegoat as was Dupre who was mauled by double and triple coverage out of 2 WR sets. No TEMPO, except on the 1 scoring drive which was 49 yds after the second INT, 2 Pass plays in 18 seconds: a 31 yd pass to LF + 3 seconds later a quick 1 SECOND screen to Dural. TEMPO/Spread neutralizes better defenses, preventing subs and adjustments. Tempo/Spread makes the D adjust to you.
Last yr's Heisman campaign mortgaged the future of every skill player and cost us 5 WRs, the #1 in the State, Tyron Johnson, "Odell Beckham Jr", our Calvin Ridley, 3 of the 5 were the only WRs besides Dupre and Dural to catch passes last yr. Les/Cam have been 120th and 119th in passing past 2 yrs and they make a Whipping Post out of whomever is playing QB. They were 120th in Scoring at Wis and blame the players execution rather than their failure to evolve. Their game plan is drawing numbers out of a paper bag.
Dupre/Dural said no QB or wide receiver would come here if they knew it was 80/20 run, and Les, said after the ALA game "Everyone will get another chance to block for Leonard". Dural walked off the field in disgust severl times after blocking at the line before LF scored. The best game we had was SCAR with 83 plays and a record 627 yds from the shotgun in the read option/run pass option. LF ran better from that formation and took less hits.
Chark should have been on the field as a FR/SO with 3-5 WR sets like Harris used to set a scoring record as a FR before they stuck him under center at AUB. NO ONE plays under center, not even 80% of the Pro Plays which are run out of a 3+WR Pro-Style Spread.
I missed the 2nd half tonight. But, without Tempo and Spread and the ability in NOV to score 60 pts against ALA, ARK, OM, & TAMU's powerhouse offenses we are not beating FLA & getting to 7-1, 12-1 SECCG, or 14-1 CFNCG, after already blowing the WISC game, the 1st OOC loss since 2002. Louisville did not let up on FSU when they put up 63, just like ORE when they beat FSU 59-20 in CFP semifinal in 2014. already blowing the WIS game.
9-9 SECW record w/Miles/Cam, 14-10 SEC with the #2 roster in the SEC and #5 in the nation: Coaching/Scheme trumps Roster strength - Herman finished 8th w/ one 4 star and a roster ranked 73rd.
Miles/Cam went the last 5 reg season games, that is including the WIS game avg 16 pts, the first time LSU went 4 games like that was 20 yrs ago and may never have gone 5 games, and 1966 since they lost 3 SEC games by the historic margin of 99-37 in the 3-game SEC losses.
Tempo/Spread/Shotgun/Pts/Min: It is about offensive identity and we have none. Tempo/Spread also fixes O-line problems which are worse in Smashmouth at LSU than for any other school. The O-Line is a war of attrition that started with too many pre-season injuries. The O-line is the basis of Miles offense and by Nov it is in shambles.
This same script happened the last 2 MSST games, scoreless second halves. The light should have come on (after their field trips to other programs they promised to take) that Tempo and Spread is what wins not 50 plays a game - the slowes pace of play in the nation.

Unfortunately for LF, I don't think he will win the Heisman this year. A s much as I wish he could win it, there is a lot of competition having better stats and games than he has so far this year. The Heisman would be a great honor for him (and LSU), but it is not a guarantor of success in the pros. LF is a great player and a great human being. We will see him be successful in the NFL due to the type of person he is. That also will bring accolades to LSU!

Fumbling Fournette could easily win the Heisman in November, but it's highly doubtful that will happen.

No chance, have to be on a top team. LF was the best in football last year but no luck.

The Heisman is won in November.
Henry was not on the Heisman radar last September.

Yeah I mean Fournette continues to be the best player on the field every time he steps out there and he has done nothing to lose the Heisman at this point.
He may very well come up short of even getting an invite this year, but it is far too early to tell. You'd think LSU fans would understand that you cannot win the Heisman in September based on the very situation that occurred last year...

Chicken... What's your prediction the rest of the year?

New HC coach is the only answer.

no way...the kid from Louisville is the front runner...plus you have the RB from Stanford and the QB from Clemson...not to mention the QB from Ohio State. Leonard is on outside looking in...
This is solid.

all the heisman talk can be laid to rest.
I know! last year at this time it was cinched. This year it's laid to rest.
If Fournette continues to put up 150 ypg, runs roughshod over Bama, and the Tigers keep winning, he will win it. Long shot? Sure, but the Heisman always is. This time last year no one thought Henry could win it.

Not better...Better numbers

I agree. Derrick Henry was not even seriously talked about until after the LSU game last year and even then it was the weeks that followed before any traction..

Way too early. Heismans are won or lost in November.

I think with today's performance all the heisman talk can be laid to rest. There are at least 10-15 players playing better at the moment.
Henry was 9 for 68 against Charleston Southern this time last year.
A few more stiff arms like that brutal one on Saturday and Leonard will jump right back into the conversation. He'll also get a little more love since he was snubbed last year, but it'll be tough to beat out Lamar Jackson.

Henry won by default. There are too many good candidates this year - the Heisman committee prefers a QB. The RB from Stanford has been on fire in the early going.
Just too much "other" glitter and sparkle this year.
Yes, LF7 is a name and is one of the few who could play his way in - but the window is closing. He will need a 200 yard game and/or a 4 TD performance. He already sat out a game. His best outing, against MSU had 2 fumbles (both hard strips, not carelessness mind you).
But, he makes a highlight reel game like he did against Auburn last year? Maybe he's back in the discussion, but a long way from winning it. At least 2 of the guys mentioned by Chicken would have to stumble for Fournette to get back in it through an expected projection.
(Sure, if he runs for 240 yards, receives another 50 yards, scores 4 TDs against Bama? Yeah. But I mean normal 150 yard, 2 or 3 TD games being the norm is unlikely to be enough if the Stanford, Louisville and Clemson guys keep on doing what they're doing.)

And it's not even close at this point.
