Drive out of downtown to:
Original Dragos best chargrilled oysters and lobster
Ruth’s Chris on Veterans Blvd
Harbor Seafood & Oysters on Williams in Kenner
This is considered L-I-V-I-N on the OT
Somewhere LNCHBOX just got a hard on

Go to Parkway and get a roast beef sandwich. Some people will tell you that it's touristy but they're telling you that so you think it's touristy and stick to uptown/downtown eateries.
Swap the roast beef for the surf and turf. Roast beef/gravy/fried shrimp=night night

If you want to go off the beaten path for really good food:
In no particular order—
High Hat Cafe
Dat dog
Pizza Domenica
Pallador 511
Katie’s
Couchon Butcher
Gautreaux’s
Mandina’s
Toup’s Meatery
A few great ones:
Commanders Palace
Irene’s
Dookie Chase
Gianna
Saba
Brigtsen's Restaurant
La Petit Grocery
Charlie’s Steakhouse
Way too many places which means you’ll need to make a second trip. Enjoy!

Coming in Friday-Monday for the FSU game. What are some good restaurants/bars that are not on bourbon st/French qt. Not interested in getting robbed.
Clancy’s - my favorite
Desi Vegas - my wife’s favorite
Dori’s Metropolitan - steaks and seafood (I think is better than Ruth’s, but that’s just me)
I’ve enjoyed Bar Marilou and Muriel’s as well.
?Ugly Dog BBQ near the WW2 museum? Some may not agree but I always enjoyed it.

First, there are very few bad restaurants in New Orleans. Just go and don't over plan.
Unfortunately in the CBD/FQ this is becoming more and more false.
There are over a dozen establishments operating in the area with menus offering "Cajun", "Creole", or "French" cuisine. But all they are really serving is frozen generic grocery store shite to unsuspecting tourists.
That should make us all mad when the real New Orleans Mainstays are a block or two away.

I’m afraid to walk around in a major city? Not sure when I’ve ever said this? — I lived in a major city with over 3 million people for years. I also will be going to the LSU vs FSU game and have been to Nola more times than I can count this year.
In other words I have no idea wtf you are talking about cupcake
