According to the alumni rule, anyone who IS too young for college can't be a fan. I have been a fan almost as long as I remember and did attend LSU , but not the one in Baton Rouge. Of course you don't have to attend a school to be a fan, you also don't have to be a former player to be a fan of the Dallas Cowboys.

LSU was my first love. They didn’t offer my major so I went somewhere else. I have watched and attended more games that most alumni so anyone who shames someone for that is just insecure about themself.

Dittos. You are legit. You don't have to be an alum or from Louisiana to support the Tigers. We will take you:).

Both my parents went to LSU, so I grew up a Tiger fan. Even if I never attended LSU, I'd still be a huge fan.

Since when do you have to be an Alumnus to be a Sports Fan.

Ask your stupid buddy if the TV Broadcasts of College Sports is just for Alumns? Are the T-Shirts and novelties sole by Wal-Mart, etc. only sold to Alumns?

Get some new friends.

The only non-alumni fans that are lame as frick are non-alumni fans of Alabama football.

It probably has something to do with their non-alumni fam status if Duke or UK basketball, and they are probably life long golden state fans and huge yankee fans

Homie, I was 11 in 1980 when I moved from BR to VB, VA. I caught the tiger fever something fierce as a child, and have never recovered. Have also lived in VB ever since. As long as you are loyal to the team and care about their success, you are legit. The fans that chap my arse are the ones that pick a different school for each blanking sport. THAT is horsespit.

I actually met a guy dressed in LSU gear playing in a golf tournament. Gave him a Geaux Tigers and we started talking. Said he played football for Ole Miss years ago but pulled for LSU now.

Alumni status doesn't matter at all, just a love for your team

I grew up in BR, started my college career at LSU, but didn't graduate. So not an alum. Life's circumstances took me to Hattiesburg, and I went back to school and graduated from Southern Miss. Huge LSU fan and only USM comes before them.

You are legit. I played football at Louisiana Tech. Would have loved to go to LSU, but I just wasn’t good enough. However, not going to Baton Rouge is.......not acceptable.

We make at least one home game a year. Just do it.

Just like me you are an "ABC"-alumni by choice and are most certainly legit. You are part of a great club.

You are an actual alumnus though, you attended the school. That's the definition. Also, uno used to be part of LSU, so you good on both fronts.

Being a fan has nothing to do with being an alumnus. Great time to be a Tiger fan regardless if you went to school at LSU. You are like hundreds of thousands of Tiger fans all over the world.

If LSU, or any other school, only had fans who actually attended or graduated from the school, then the fan base would be so small as to be irrelevant.

People become fans for many reasons and the more fans the better. Some LSU fans were raised cheering for the Tigers, some came from out of state and fell in love with the team or attended school and became fans. Others followed certain players or family attended. How many OSU fans now follow LSU because of Burrow?

Is your friend a fan of any professional sports team? If so, did he play for them at some point? Tell him to stop cheering for teams he never played for.

Your buddy is an idiot. As a former LSU player I can tell you that we would accept the support of any fan. I also played professionally for the Angels and my brother played for the White Sox. Neither of us is a fan of our former employer. We were born 3 blocks from McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket, RI and we are diehard Red Sox fans.
