It’s amazing how big of an underachiever Georgia is.

Great perspective...thanks!

If they ever get their "Skip", watch out. Great college town, hot girls, great academics, very rich baseball talent in the state of Georgia, etc.
Crazy they aren't a powerhouse.

It's insane. They should never be bad at baseball.
I did learn recently that Tennessee can give in state tuition to any border state, so they can pull kids from Georgia and give them in state rates. Their recruiting situation isn't quite as difficult as I originally thought. That's a pretty good advantage.

Yep it's nuts. I have no idea why they dont invest in baseball there. Such an easy town to recruit to, nearby Atlanta area...but their facilities are junk, Foley field is an absolute joke for an SEC baseball facility, and Scott stricklin has somehow been there 8 years with only 2 regional appearances and still has his job. That guy took Kent St to 5 tourney appearances his last 7 years there and has taken UGA to 2 in 8 seasons (granted 1 year was the COVID year, but still...)
His 2 regional appearances UGA was actually very good in regular season (18-12 SEC, 21-9 SEC records) and he lost 2 home regionals...

It seems to me so much of Georgia's HS talent signs with MLB. The Bulldogs don't seem to get a lot of in state players

Yep, Florida and Vandy still have 6 ranked and undrafted pitcher signees. With all the injuries every year, definitely the position to load up on.
Posted on 7/13/21 at 10:06 am to YeauxTigers
Vandy better get some offense. They had arguably the two best pitchers in college baseball this year and their offense completely screwed the pooch in the postseason.

quote:Yes, they will have some top of the chart talent every year. Every once in a while you get lucky and get some of those guys on campus. Not only is Georgia typically not in play for them but they usually aren’t in the mix for the next tier, borderline type either. That’s where the rest of the SEC and ACC are taking a lot of players.
It seems to me so much of Georgia's HS talent signs with MLB.
Georgia is probably the best state for talent outside of the obvious top 3 so there is plenty of depth available. Plus nearly all of the top players from across the country will pass through the state at least once during their recruitment.

The team won't have that one dominant guy by any means but returning everyone in the lineup they won't need to be perfect like they had to be in 20 and 21.
Key is we have a staff who will actually have a clue about leaving/pulling pitchers in game.

I’m sure it’s been said, but I do t have time to read all this. Any chance we land Selvidge?

Anyone already drafted is gone

We're about to get rolling again. Picks will be even faster today than yesterday more than likely.

quote:The don't invest in it like other SEC teams. The stadium is small with all seatbacks but lacks any other amenities. It's built in really close to the road with no room for expansion or improvements. No room for player areas. The scoreboard and audio systems are sad.
It's insane. They should never be bad at baseball.
