Here is the bottom line: The team did not play at an acceptable level during the second half of the game Saturday night. Anyone can see that. Does that mean the team is doomed? Of course not. But it does raise legitimate concerns about the players and staff. We'll have to wait and see how the team plays over the remainder of the season. But I certainly appreciate why people are disguntled at Saturday night's result. It's not ridiculous.

Thank you WacoTiger. Well said. The only thing i would add would be Chicken had more time to knock some of these so called fans off of here. Go on the BOL board and see how long you last spewing anything thats negative.

realistic criticsim is one thing. the tireless bashing and meanspirited children on this board are my target.
if someone wants to state their objective opinion for discussion, fine. BUT, some of these dbags take it way beyond that.

I wasn't applauding the OP......he, too, was over the top.

at some schools, the fans act as a true fan does: they support their team in the good and bad times. with your logic, the typical LSU fan can go frick himself in my book. It's about school spirit, pride in the work their team has put forth ALL YEAR, and pride just being there to represent the love they have for LSU.
Worst fan in the fricking world is the non-alumni who is willing to sell the Tigers down the river when they don't provide him/her the t-shirt they need to brag at the Mullet toss. That's not support, that's selfishness. frick that fan.
sure, I have some issues with various things that unfolded Saturday, but they won and they are kids who just went through the most grueling offseason in their lives......adn, guess what? the coaches want nothing but to lead these young men to success. I am so fricking sick of the unrestrained/childish tangents.
Hey, you want Les gone, fine. State you point and move on. Stop trying to sell your fricking opinion.
Are you trying to miss my point? Because you're excelling at it.
Why do you assume that people who are pissed off about what they see on the field don't support their team? Why is it that just because someone is unhappy with the product that is being put on the field, then that means they aren't a fan of the team or pull for their team any less?
Get off your fricking high horse for a second and realize that what you're saying is hilariously stupid.
I bet you those same people bitching about bad things are still showing up on Saturdays to watch games, watching games on TV, going on road trips, etc. Not being happy with something =/= not supporting it.
You're fine with LSU being mediocre, because gosh darnit they tried really hard and want to win. That's fine. Not everyone is though. Some people actually see a trend forming and aren't happy with it (hell, you even reference that there are problems). And they can voice that opinion as much as you can voice your sunshiny one.
Bottom line is you can't say this:
quote:
State you point and move on. Stop trying to sell your fricking opinion.
..all while doing that exact thing yourself.

Thank you for that eloquent sentiment. Nice emoticon, you twelve year old. Unfortunately, your conclusion is untenable because I sincerely doubt that you have the mental capacity to remember my last five posts, much less my overall contribution to the board for several years.
<----looks for another entertaining emoticon.
There, that ought to do it.

It's this attitude that makes you believe you're a better fan if you blindly assume that every decision LSU makes is the best decision ever, Miles is the best coach in the country, etc.
It doesn't make you a better fan - it makes you a clueless fan. Everyone supports the team, quit telling yourself that you "support them more" by ignoring the problems that we have.
Ed. fricking. Zachary.

Board 2 would be very boring, and would turn this place into TideSports 2.0
Actually, I think that Board 2 would be tremendous during the season as it would lead to quality football discussion rather than every decent post getting derailed somewhere around post 20.
There is very little quality discussion that occurs on this board. There are some good threads with some quality thought that get lost among the constant sarcastic, antagonistic, and juvenile posts.
In the offseason, Board 2 would probably be less popular.
I actually think this is a good idea. I would also like to see Chicken clean up the Recruiting board which has become a place for the average Rant poster to go bitching about a recruiting issue. That has severely lowered the quality of that board as well.
Leave the Rant. Let people complain and attack if they want. But, create a space for people who want to discuss the finer points of the game and/or keep up with the news and rumors of the program and recruiting without having to sift through 90% of the crap.

Sample Topics from Positiger board:
Les miles for SEC Coach of the Year
Our DB's dominated the entire game
Crowton is a wizard
The D held TJ yates to only 400 yards passing
That was great coverage in the end zone at the end of the game.
Ford is not ready and Miles is making the right decision to let him sit and learn.
JJ has made a dramatic turnaround from last year and is now making better decisions.
Did you see the way Miles called off the dogs and coached conservatively to preserve the win!
Ridley's fumbles proved to be harmless because we won the game.
RS is too small to carry the ball more than 8 times in a game. Great decision by the coaches to prevent him from being injured by over-utilizing him.
The depth of our O-Line was on display Sat night when T-Bob stepped right in for Blackwell.
This is an example of a post that would be on the Rant.

I,for one, am tired of the silent majority of our fan base making the majority of true LSU fans look like asses in the public arena. Sure, the silent majority says that “all of my friends at my tailgate hate Coach Miles” or “everyone at my office thinks Coach Miles is an idiot.” My suggestion for those posters, find another tailgate or find another job.
If they're silent then why do they bother you?
I feel dumber for having read your post.

I dare you to go and find any two of these posted about the UNC game by anyone you think is a "positiger"... I've never seen any of this on this board, yet it's all there in your mind as being someone's opinion...

But it was stupid. So the OP doesn't like Saban, and loves Miles. That should have no bearing on this topic (of fans bitching about the game and whatnot).
Just like his statement of how he's "seen more games/losses than most" doesn't hold any water either. It's elitist, high-horse bullshite.
Posted on 9/7/10 at 12:50 pm to LSUmomma
The point of this thread is getting lost.
So here it is...
We should all just be happy that LSU pays Les Miles $4 million per year regardless of his performance because Waco Tiger thinks he's a nice man.

i too would really like for their to be a strictly X's and O's board, but i think it would ultimately fail because there's just not enough people that post on here that are legitimately knowledgable about football strategy to post. i know i'm not. all most of the posters go by is what they think they saw. almost no one is reviewing the tape the next day, and furthermore, almost no one is savvy enough on strategy to say what was supposed to happen vs. what did happen.
yeah, some people need to be banned, but this is what 2 years + 1 game of not making the best use of talent gets you. i hope they can build on the UNC victory going forward.

From both sides.
That's the key. The negative side is just as bad as the positive side. And vice versa.
