That's the first time I've heard that one. We only lost to UGA, Auburn and Iowa that year. The Iowa loss was in the Capital One bowl after Saban had announced that he was leaving

I think you have that flipped. I am pretty certain that he was dismissing any claims of leaving before that game, and shortly after the loss he announced he was going to Miami.
I just recall thinking that it looked like he was completely unprepared during the game and when the announcement was made afterwards thinking that it made sense how poorly coached we looked.

I'm fairly sure he announced that he was leaving LSU on Christmas day and the bowl game was a week later on New Year's day

No. He announced on Christmas night that he was taking the Miami job. The Iowa game on New Year's Day.
You may be thinking of Fatty McChavis that was totally inept in stopping a mediocre Notre Dame team in the Music City Bowl because he was already working with Kevin Sumlin before the game.

I don't see OSU as any ore of a threat than FSU. Games have to be played and hopefully we bring our "A" game. If we do then we can beat anybody

Didn't he "rudely" brush off reporters who were asking about rumors he was leaving while here in BR? Then once he was in Orlando announced he was leaving (on Christmas day no less)?
