According to the Birmingham News, y'all have this backwards. Tide is all about class and LSU has none. Birmingham News: Alabama/Mal Moore = Class, LSU/Alleva = No Class

I understand the emotion behind LSU pride but this is no big deal. People accept jobs and later change their minds all the time. If I ever took a position that later didn't feel right I wouldn't hesitate to back away from the job.

Sorry it happened to LSU but its commonplace and nothing to get so agitated about.

I would tend to agree with you, but I still think it was pretty bush league.

He accepted the job, held a press conference, and met with the team. It's not like he changed his mind the next morning. It was 3 days later.

This. If you are not so sure, don't take the job to begin with. Take more time to think about it.

Without a doubt it was a bush league move. Its just not as big a deal as some here are making it. I doubt if many on this board would care if a history professor from Arizona agreed to teach at LSU and changed his mind immediately thereafter. It would be understandable if, upon further consideration, he decided it wasn't the move he wanted to make at that time.

Because it was Bama and maybe our pride is stung a bit that this is such a big issue here.

But you're right, it was bush league.

You think maybe ther'll be a large crowd to welcome him for the first game Bama plays here next spring?
Damn, we could make that place rock!

There should be a flash mob generated to sing Judy Garland standards during each Alabama half inning.

And that's fine and perfectly normal. But like it was said on the radio this morning - he should have waited and made a decision instead of jump the gun and say yes, hold a press conference and a meet and greet with all the players, and then wake up with cold feet on Sunday morning. There was no pressure and it's not like LSU gave him a deadline or held a proverbial gun to his head.

What he did was the equivalent of going through with a wedding, going on the honeymoon, coming back and filing for divorce first day back.

IMO this speaks a ton about Pat Murphy's character if anything. He needs to grow up and man up. And he better hope the Bama gig is good to go until retirement b/c I doubt anybody will hire the guy knowing this about him. Well anybody worth a damn for that matter.

arizona coach, he also coaches Team USA when softball was in the olympics.

Candrea and arizona both made public statements that he was offered the position and turned it down.

If there is a group of LSU students competing, I care.

I would never give a shite about track, softball, or basketball outside of LSU...but since we compete, I want us to be the national fricking champions every year.

There always has to be someone like this show up in these threads. If you don't care, then why did you bother expending the energy to post?

Back on topic,

As an LSU fan I am disappointed for the players. I think they genuinely believed they got as good or better coach than what they had. Now the pressure is on the Alleva (more so than before Murphy was hired when the expectations perhaps weren't as high) to not disappoint both players and fans. I think Alleva is more pissed about this situation than the actual change of heart Murphy had.

IMHO It has always been about the statue. My feeling is Alabama will unveiling a new statue in the near future. Can you guess who it will be of?

Wow, really? This guy has perfected homerism. I am still surprised at Bama welcoming the guy back with open arms. And what is even more dissappointing is Habetz deciding to go back after she had her big tearful "homecoming."

That's not all he said.

"What they did was a huge statement to me because nobody does that," Murphy said. "LSU is not putting softball on the back burner."

Murphy was asked if he spoke to Saban about his days at LSU from 2000-04.

"I've never seen him," Murphy said. "He's in like Fort Knox there."

Do you care who wins when the Pakistani students play cricket on the parade grounds?
