That looks like a back shoulder type of pass to me. FAVORS WR big time.

Million dollar question. I've noticed, they have Hawkins in press and PP is 10 frickin yards off. Wouldn't it make sense to have your strongest, fastest, best corner in press? Maybe they're thinking since he has the best closing speed he can make up for the yard differential. I look for a bunch of quick throws to AJ for 5 yards.

Last year, I was absolutely befuddled by the zone coverage we played. I was perplexed in the sense that I didn't understand how it should or could possibly work. I spent some time during the offseason reading about zone defenses and watching tape.

My ultimate conclusion is that, in order to work well, zone defenses have to be PERFECTLY coordinated, choreographed, and executed. I think they actually require far more intelligence and precision than man to man defense. In essence, the entire secondary and linebacking unit needs to react and move as if it were a single coherent organism. If every element of the zone isn't working in perfect synchrony, the result is an open target for the quarterback. For example, as you alluded to, if the corners don't close perfectly, you can simply toss the ball out into the flat for a five yard gain.

I wonder if zone defense is really an appopriate vehicle in the college game. If you have athletes, isn't it simpler and more effective to play man?

Maybe or maybe he was helping out another guy. Do you seriously think that one catch makes a WR dominate a corner? Usually WRs come down with the ball on timing routes. Idiot

No, but I also think it's retarded to act like he didn't cover the guy when there is a damn picture of him getting beaten in the thread.

I never used the words "dominate a corner"...you did.

If you think your coaches are gonna put anyone 1 on 1 with AJ Green all game long, it's you that's the idiot.

and if there's no pressure on Cox and he has all day to throw? What then?

He will look for the tight end (#82) who will probably have a LB trying to cover him. That guy is pretty good.

Our TEs are
#81 Aron White
#7 Orson Charles

"Hybrid" WR/TE types.

Both are young and inexperienced, but hard for a LB to cover.

Like I said sometimes, just not letting a guy get behind you and minimizing gain on an obvious timing route is doing the job. I wouldn't call it being "beatin".

PP will dominate (or will be dominant over) Green (spelling lesson included here ).

However, if Cox has a lot of time, it won't show. Must get pressure on their QB.

You're right. Must have been 81 that I saw in the Ark game. Good speed and good hands. UGA is a lot like LSU. LOTS of weapons, just need to execute and make plays.

green is a stud, but has anyone noticed that he gets away with 'push offs' on almost every big play?

Those guys were both big time recruits.
White was the #1 TE in the nation in 2007.
Charles was listed as a WR last year, but was rated the #7 WR in the nation.

Both are really hard matchups for LBs.

if peterson can shut green down(IF), we will be able to get a lot of pressure on cox

Peterson has already shut down every player he's lined up against in the first 4 games, so why hasn't pass rush been better?

There is no denying that Green is Cox's safety blanket. If you slow that connection, make it less automatic, then it can get in the QBs head. Then on 3rd and 5, he has to think about where to go more. UGA has some great talent, but a lot of it is still young and unproven (Brown, the TEs). Their running game isn't dominant. If our 2 corners play well, it will give the D Line more of a chance to get coverage sacks.

By the way, I think Green is awesome, but he is not the best WR Peterson has faced. Not by a long shot. Julio Jones, my friend. Peterson was also the starter by the time that one rolled around. Jones had a great game and got a huge catch against PP to set up the win, but PP made him look like a freshman earlier in the game while picking off a pass thrown to him. That didn't happen very often last year. PP is a LOT better than that now, with that experience under his belt. He is so much better that we barely saw him against Vandy and USL...because they completely ignored his side of the field. State did not, and it cost them. He may not shut Green down, but if he just slows him down, UGA is very beatable.

Thoughts on how your 5'8" CBs will deal with 6'4" Lafell and 6'5" Tolliver?

Regardless, if LSU can hold Green less than 70 yards receiving, I see LSU walking away with a victory. Beyond Green, UGA has a bunch of unknowns. I'd rather take my chances with the unknowns exploiting LSU's coverage than Green because if Green is rolling, that means their entire offense is pretty much pulling an Arkansas. Opens up way more things down field.
