The guy is also a former professional athlete who basically learned to punt because he was bored and wanted to try it. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he would have been a starter at QB somewhere had he went that route and not tried his hand at baseball.

I'm really worried that covid will be the excuse to keep Pelini next year along with the contract. Even with these results they will say he wasnt given time to fix it.

He probably could've played QB if he wanted to. He was such a highly touted pitcher that I don't think he wanted to risk it.

Learning to punt a football and learning to be a QB are not as closely related as you think, that’s why you’ve never seen anybody do it

I went to ZHS games back when he was there and I dont recall ever seeing him do anything more than punt. He was always a MLB prospect and people used to wonder why he would even set foot on a football field and risk injury.
As for his baseball record:
Started 4 straight State Championship games, went the distance in all 4, got the W in all 4. 4 rings.
