Our DE’s need to be on the same weight-loss programs as Ika and Shelvin.

They all have a gut.

How many of Bama’s DE’s have guts? What about the three D lineman that were just drafted from Clemson. How does 15-20 pounds around the waist help them play better.

In 2011, our Defensive linemen were lean and bad to the bone. Chip Kelly was blown away when he saw them up close.

Meanwhile, we have a line full of guys that would be DTs in a 4-3

I think we're all looking forward to this newer, well-conditioned team of ours.

Lol no that was Mingo
Not many bring up Michael Brockers, but he was one of the most athletic DTs I've ever seen at LSU. I specifically remember being wow'd by him making a one handed, diving int on a middle screen against Mcneese.

Probably one of the all time underrated Tigers in my opinion

The DEs now are more like DTs with a true NT in the middle.

That's how it is in the 3-4 defense. In the 4-3 LSU use to run you had the quicker, leaner more athletic DE's like Mingo and Montgomery. But in the 3-4 you got to have beef on the line.

Exactly.

My reference to 4-3 was responding to the op's description.
