Sad but true. Only way we get in is 13-0 or 12-1 with a sec champ win , and possibly 12-1 (undefeated regular season with a very close sec champ loss.

Bama and UGA will definitely be in.

Based on that scenario I think we would be the team left out. UGA automatically gets in and theres no way Bama will fall from #1 to #5 or worse after losing a close game to UGA at a neutral site.

why do people even worry about this? We're only 4 games into a 12 or 13 game season.

Good grief. Wait until November, then it will be clearer and you can start with the what-if scenarios.

Uh, no. You are correct that we need receivers to step up. The O line could improve too (and get healthy).

Bama gets in with one loss...doesn't matter who the loss is to, when it happens, or any other circumstances surrounding it.

Copy paste this to every season until Saban retires.

Alabama's schedule this year is a joke.

Have you seen Clemson's? Their toughest opponent is Duke based on rankings. They already played their toughest opponent in reality (A&M) which would be our 5th or 6th toughest game.

How 'bout this:

LSU beat UGA
LSU beat Bama
LSU Beat UGA in SECCG

LSU get in playoff.

LSU beat whoever.
LSU beat whoever.
LSU = National Champ.

I like my scenario better ....

This scenario...

We finish 7-1 with our lone SEC loss to A&M
Kentucky goes 7-1 in the SEC with lone loss to UGA.
Georgia finishes 6-2 with losses to LSU and Auburn

We beat Kentucky in the SECCG and finish 12-1

Ohio State goes undefeated
Clemson goes undefeated
ND goes undefeated

LSU, Ohio State, Clemson and ND in the playoff.

Alabama is out at 11-1

Its true. But it's also based on the fact that when they have gotten mulligans in the past, they won the mulligan game. This results in folks thinking that any Bama loss is a fluke.

There is a very powerful argument to be made that LSU should be ranked 1 considering they are the only team in the country with two top ten wins under their belt. Either the rankings mean something and they reflect who is the current best team in the country based on current wins, or they mean nothing and Alabama and Clemson can just sit idle in the top 5 playing JV squads until they lose maybe one game down the stretch.

These inflated rankings based on past teams' success are nonsense.

Jesus Christ.
Listen, there are about 8 people here trying to have a decent conversation & 4 of you who are asshurt that I asked a hypothetical question on a message board. Y’all do realize they make preseason top 25 polls & shite like that right? If you don’t like the question just downvote & get the frick on. I said 9-3 before the season started. Me asking this question doesn’t mean I’m banking on us going. You must be miserable.

pointing out absurdity doesn't make me miserable. Oh, and I also live in my mother's basement. And I'm not a true fan. Any others?

There are SO MANY moving parts and possible scenarios that it makes this entire exercise an utter waste of time. We're 1 game into a very tough 8-game SEC schedule.

Now, if we get through the Bama game undefeated, or we have only one very close loss to them or UGA, then let's talk.

Until then, this is all just wasted energy and honestly, is nonsense.
