So is Javi sort of the baseball equivalant of Gary Crowton--a coach that was allowed to remain a year or two longer than he should have & certainly longer than the fan base wanted?

That would assume that Javi was first qualified to coach at the college level to begin with. Hiring him was a joke.

the big eared guy that played for the cubs?

i meant to say Kirk, not jim

kirk pitched mainly for Astro's. Jim was Cubs pitcher

Kirk was UNO's pitching coach and recruiting coor when they were good a few years ago

I'd much rather Sanchez go than Grewe.

I'd say almost all of those kids signed with LSU because of Mainieri/tradition/facilities/
fans at LSU. Grewe is far down that list.

That's pretty much what I posted earlier this morning. LSU recruits itself.

I would have been 'ok' with Grewe becoming the hitting coach and recruiting coordinator (he just shouldnt be a pitching coach) and getting rid of Javi..

Javi is just worthless. If we were only 1 or 2 games out of making the tourney than he has certainly lost that many by his basecoaching alone.

Javy=waste

If you disagree, then you're admittedly close to the program. Too close to think objectively, at that.

Wonder if this is speculation, or if there has been some contact and interest. Would be a fricking homerun hire, if so.

you'd think he'd get a decent shot at the Rice head coach gig after Graham dies/retires

just a rumor, maybe wishful thinking at LSU.

he was up for the uh head coaching job last year and took his name out of the running, most think hes being groomed to take Grahams place.

its a lateral move, no matter what y'all think. He succeeds at RICE, has camps/instructs in the areafamily is from here, son is headed to RICE next year and has a future here,

I imagine LSU can throw a lot of money and hint at a HC shot if Maneri gets fired but thats not happening without LSU tanking and if that happens any staff will be partially blamed

but, I understand the interest he is a helluva a coach recruiter,, and LSU is smart to ask.

Javi is the only one who should stay. Grewe and Manarri are the reason you guys have lost so many players to the draft in the past couple years.
