I mean, if those 30,000 don't really care about the game, I doubt they are that loud, so what difference does it make if they are there or not?
I don't know. It's simple social dynamics. If people start screaming, others start screaming. If people start leaving, others start leaving.

Some of you are trying to excuse behavior based off of Saturday night's game, and if it was just that one game, we wouldn't be having this discussion right now. West Virginia in 2010 was a 6 point game and the stands were empty.
And this "STFU you weren't there" argument is ludicrous.
I guess if you aren't a politician, you shouldn't say shite about politics. If you don't play sports or coach sports, you shouldn't say anything about the players and coaches. Hell, what is this site even doing running right now? No one should be allowed to talk about shite!

We have become a spoiled bunch. I made a thread yr or so ago how kinda sucks how LSU football has come down to a one game season.... LSU vs Alabama. That's all anyone cares about. It's true and everybody knows it regardless If you'll admit it. Nobody cares about the magnila bowl or the boot or some shite bowl game vs Clemson if we not going to Atlanta for seccg. It's what it has become and it sucks. That's why I'm chose to get my fix in Dallas and this week in Athens and in Oxford in couple weeks. IF Alabama beats us, unfortunately the thrill is gone for most LSU fans.
This is a valid argument and I agree with this to an extent. But to complain about people leaving early last Saturday because they were wet and miserable is just stupid. These people that you are complaining about actually went out there and sat in the rain and got soaking wet just to see their tigers play while you sat inside and watched on tv. You have no right to criticize them.
And even if you did go and stayed the whole time and you feel like you have a right to complain, this is not the week to do it. You should never complain about people leaving because of weather. Complain about people leaving to beat traffic. I agree with you there, but not leaving because of weather. Most people that went to the game and stayed aren't complaining about the ones who left early because we understand why they left. In fact, if I didn't bring a big poncho to keep me dry and I had gotten soaking wet, I might have left too.

I'm over this crap. I'm usually the one bitching about people leaving, but honestly, I'm impressed at how full the stadium was at the start of the game. shite, I had an 80-something year old couple next to me who can barely walk because of hip replacement not only go to the game, but stay until the start of the 4th (which is when I left as well). The rain/wetness was a pain, and it was pretty obvious to me LSU was going to finish Auburn off handily.

I agree with every freaking thing he said in that article! It was spot on!

Who cares who wrote it. It's spot on. It's embarrassing how empty the stadium is.

Most of the people bitching about the crowd were so warm and comfy on their couch that they probably didn't even realize it was raining.

In a poncho

cool
did you have your family with you? long drive ahead?
or were you a single guy that had a 5 minute walk/drive back to your apartment?
circumstances are not always the same for everyone

I hate when people leave early to beat traffic or to get dressed for a party, or whatever. But I'll never complain about people leaving because of bad weather.
And you can still complain all you want about politics even if you aren't a politician. But you are just a miserable a-hole IMO if you bitch and moan about politics and you don't even bother to vote.
My "STFU you weren't even there argument" as you put it is valid IMO because I think that most of the people bitching about fans leaving weren't even at the game. Like I said, most of the people who went to this particular game understand why some chose to leave early and we aren't bitching about it.
Again, most of the ones bitching didn't even bother to go and therefore, IMO, don't have any right to complain.
And for the guy that said good ponchos can be had for $20, you are correct. In fact, I had a nice, thick, heavy gold poncho that cost me about $30 and it was only marginally better than the cheap, thin ponchos that only cover your top and stop at the waist. I was pretty well soaked by the time the rain stopped. Anything more than a short, light rain will require a real rain suit like "frogg toggs" or a nice heavy duty, full body length slicker suit to keep dry and those will cost you at least $100

Nope. Mine was $4 and all that was wet were my shoes and socks.
And I'm female and stayed the entire game ... Please don't lump all female fans together!!!
