We need a young coach with some swagger and turn this baby around. The program has just gotten stale with Paul the past few years. I’m really hoping it’s Vitello. I just feel like he’s a splash hire.
Johnson is the young coach with swagger. Have you even seen Zona play?
Dude will call time and go tell the batter what to do, gives no fricks if ump gets mad. He coaches his arse off.
If it's Johnson I will be pumped. I think its a grand slam hire. Many will bring up about not having connections here... well we recruit Cali too. Easy to develop connections once he is lsu coach.
Best baseball is Cali, Texas, Florida, Georgia, la then ready of the South and West coast. He is a relentless recruiter and that carries.
Akzo he is not small ball. His teams fricking rake son.

He better bring Yeskie if he is the hire
Wouldn't be surprised to see Yeskie get the Zona job

The two least mentioned to be in the hunt are McDonnell and Corbin, so I will assume those are the frontrunners.

The Rant doesn't like that.

Yeah he checks the boxes of basically everything I wanted when this search began:
1. Young
2. Can recruit
3. Completely new blood
4. Proven track record of success. To me, he showed his initial Omaha run was no get hot fluke. He built it back and got back
I prefer him to Godwin really.

Wouldn't mind this hire but he would be behind Vitello and Godwin for me.
I will say Johnson is a good fit for LSU's weakness under PM.

I'll be fine with any of the most mentioned. Honestly, all would do fine in BR.

I think the only one left on the board that may trigger a melt would be Jarrett

You can point out a reason any of them woudl fail but there really is a lot to like about all most of the names being put out there.
Johnson has been to 2 World Series. He had an immediate effect on that team that was runner up and he had built a team that won the conference and made the CWS.
Godwin has done a lot at ECU. It’s not a nobody team but he account for half their Super regional appearances.
Jarrett has the thinnest resume but he got Notre Dame so a super which isn’t super easy. (He makes me more nervous than the other two)
I think one thing none of us can really talk about is vision. What are these guys pitching to Woody that will bring LSU to the next level? Do they want to update get LSU practice facilities? Are they the kind who want to embrace data driven coaching?
I have No idea. LSU could get the money to invest in all sorts of things.

Jarrett I don't think is a real serious contender. That has to be a name floated if everyone else told LSU no and we shite the bed on the search. He would definitely make this fanbase melt.

I like Jay Johnson over Godwin as well.
People keep harping on a couple of subpar years, but he bounced back. Legit hitting coach & recruiter. The Cali connection is huge imo. LSU regularly gets players from Texas & Florida. I doubt that will change under Johnson.
Only worry is pitching

Jarrett kind of said in an interview he was almost purposefully floating his name to help notre dame and himself get some free publicity

Sounds like an excuse hunt Palmer would give his wife when she pops him for still being on a dating app “just trying to help the single guys on the bachelor party babe “
