This is a nightmare. Verge isn't even capable of scheduling the non conference games. He's proven that for years.
No tune up games like every other SEC team has on their schedule. Hell, he'd schedule Alabama for our first game every year, if the option were available.
If he can't at least put us on a level playing field with the best of the best SEC teams, how will he manage the entire Athletic Department and all the nuances involved? He's simply a yes man, as others have said.
This is a gigantic mistake by the powers that be. This will come back to bite them in their arse.
We just now had such potential for a brief shining moment. Kind of like driving the ball down the field to the 5 yard line, and throwing an interception, or fumbling with the opponent recovering.

Relax folks. Berge is a placeholder until the new coach is hired. The coach will get whatever AD he wants - no doubt very qualified or he wouldn’t be in the running for AD at a major university’s sports department.

Isn't that what everyone wants and what we need? Stability: remove interim title. Don't want just a buddy buddy good ol' boy lazy hire: isn't the long term full hired AD.
It's kind of as good as you could do it.

I don’t think too many people care about the technical aspects of whether he’s permanent. They want to know what the intent is.
I think they decided on Verge a while ago. I think the lack of clarity is a combination of not yet having the board approval combined with pushback on the decision.
They are going to wait it out because the last thing they want is more criticism.

Translation: We still do not have the alignment we thought we had a few days ago....disappointing but par for the course. This is a shite show.
