What I heard is him say Delpit is playing out of position. Last year with Battle, Delpit played closer to the line of scrimmage where it's easier to make plays.

This year, especially after the injury to Harris, he is having to play "centerfield" free safety where your job is really to be the last line of defense.

He thinks Delpit would shine more blitzing the QB, playing and jumping short routes to TE's. But he acknowledged that LSU doesn't have a player adept enough to take the centerfield spot which is a dilemma Aranda must solve.

I think this is a good recipe for their receivers to take slants to the house all day.

Idk how you stop that offense, but a gameplan of intense pressure all day is going to lead to a lot of scores.

Bama’s defense has arguably been just as bad facing much worse competition. I’m not hitting the panic button.

Also, I think Clark’s view of the D when our starters were in is a bit distorted.

Playing a (basically) triple option, and a top 10 (some would say top 5) offense, our starters gave up...

10 points

In 6 quarters

In fact, if we want to be technical, our real starting defense has given up 10 points on the season. We are obviously not the same team without Lawrence, Logan, and Chaisson.

We have the corners to cover their receivers on slant routes

Yeah that part was tough. Even more so because he knows what he's talking about so I'm a little nervous. The downside of him being an expert is he tells us what we don't want to hear

And before the season he was on Moscnoa's show saying it'll take a few weeks for the defense to start clicking. Seems to have changed his tune, unfortunately.

Definitely appreciate his analysis and him telling it like it is. Hopefully he is wrong about this though!

Yet people hate on Spears as a Saban lover who isn't loyal to LSU.

Love Ryan Clark.

Seen him in the student section a couple times while I was at LSU.

How so are we not the same after losing 3 of our top defenders? Is that a serious question?

I listened to the program and all his comments.
I agree with him on the D but part ways with his critique of Burrow last year.
He criticizes Burrow for his on field displays of emotion and said Burrow wasn't very good last year.
He must have missed the A&M game along with the Bowl game performance.

Yeah I can agree with that statement for sure. He has gotten so much better since last year

He's right on par with what i said about K'Lavon Chaisson. Dude is a physical freak but he's not consistent and the production hasn't been there

If he gets healthy and starts earning the 1st round grade, this defense will start to look like what a lot of us were expecting in the offseason.

That’s a hell of an IF for a guy who hasn’t proven he can do it. I don’t think he can stay healthy enough for a 1st round season.
