how do they have a right? it was a closed practice that you trespassed on and you put information about specific packages on this thread that i know LSU coaches read
Agreed. We all love the info, but the only people with a 'right' are the members of the gridiron club and others with clearance to see the scrimmage.

Why do the fans have the "right" to know what goes on at practice? Seriously...defend this statement.

"Clearances" Good lord you guys act like this is national security or something..it's a college football team..man!
To get the proper "clearances" credentials must include: $300 annually..and sign a confidentiality memo..I am sure the 100+ people that went will not talk about the scrimmage Monday morning to their coworkers...

I just don't think it is our God-given "right" to know what goes on at practice. In my opinion, they should not let anyone go, period. It is none of our business.
Posted on 8/17/08 at 6:09 am to LSUGrad9295
and i would be fine with that..but to let the people with "proper clearances" go, who's criteria is to pay to be in a club..$300, as opposed to students and alumni..in my mind it is a way to segregate the football team from the school and students..it's a fine line to play with (b'c Gridiron Club does do a lot for the team)..by the way I am not saying sneaking in to the scrimmage was right or wrong..just shouldn't have been set up that way to allow for this to happen and make fans/students/alum feel they have to sneak into a scrimmage..IMO

People just seem to get so bent out of shape when they think the coaches are keeping something from everyone. I think it is the coaches job to keep stuff from everyone. I don't think club members should be allowed in either. And I have said before that I don't think the MEDIA should be allowed in. If you want to see how the team looks, show up at Tiger Stadium or turn on ESPN August 30 at 4pm and you can find out.
Case in point...all the BS and panic about Keiland Williams having a fumbling problem. That isn't our business to float around. The kid has enough problems trying to conquer fumbling that he shouldn't have to worry about everyone and their grandma knowing about it also. That should be kept in the privacy of practice.

The coaches don't want us to know, so forget everything that has been posted.

Why are you making the Gridiron Club out to be some sort of organization that ISN'T comprised fans/students/alums? Any fan/student/alum can join and attend if they so choose. It isn't like some sort of secret society.

Now i solved the fumbling problem.
Its college football, not the US Defense system .

Advocate has nothing about Hatch getting hurt. Maybe he didn't?

Two things concern me from the scrimmage - one came from your update, the other from Miles' presser.
You mention Lee looks good unless pressured and Miles mentioned mental mistakes and penalties that need work.
Based on what you saw, do you feel that this team has the talent at the other positions to overcome excessive penalties, immaturity at the QB position, and the special teams play?

Because if it wasn't for the students, alumni, and fans who spend their damn money on LSU our football program would still suck as it did in the 90's. So that is our freaking right to know. Les shouldn't be a pussy about what is seen in practice.

Going into the scrimmage, i had 3 major concerns:
QB
P
CB
Leaving the game, i would say these are my concerns:
Penalties
-We had aton of presnap penalties, but i blame that on the fact that we rarely had ALL the starters on the field at the same time.
Mental Errors
-JL made a few mistakes, but considering he threw a good 50 passes, completed about 35 of them and had basically 3 TD and 2 INT (all rough estimates), he had a good day.
-Hatch has a "Tuck and Run" tendency while Lee will sometimes wait too long and take the sack. I'd prefer the QB to be patient to let Lafell, Byrd, and TT get open downfield.
-JJ is just a FRESH with aton of upside at this point. Like i said, i see him as potentially being our running guy. The problem for him is that he HAS to develope his passing into being VERY good or else RS can come in and compete to beat him out. That said, JJ is a very impressive athelete with a solid work ethic and he didn't let his mistakes get him down. Can't ask any more of a kid
I'm not too worried about CB because we have such good talent there and at the safety positions. There was only one play where there was blown coverage that i saw and it was when TT caught a long TD pass for Lee. Outside of that, there was alot of good coverage. In some cases, Lee exploited it with pinpoint accuracy. His best throw of the game was arguable when he lofted a ball up to Byrd who made a great catch over perfect coverage by Phelon. That may border on too much info, but point is the CB's look pretty good but hopefully they will perfect their game by AU.
Punting really pleasantly surprised me. At time Dalfrey had some boomers, and Jasper had some nice ones, too. Dalfrey is just able to get that huge hang time more frequently IMO and he just looks like a big, solid punter.
Trindon, JWilliams, CJ were returning punts. Trindon may actually win that job which would be AWESOME.
KO return will likely be Trindon and one of TTolliver, CJ (my pick), JWilly, RMurphy (my 2nd pick, but i didnt' see him), or Ron Brooks (didnt see him)
