You must be new to college football.

Sigh. If the Big Ten unfolded the same way in 2014, Wisconsin would be going to the Rose Bowl.

I can see all the BCS games being blowouts! Football playoffs can't get here soon enough. I just hope LSU comes to play no matter who their opponent is. We should be favored by double digits and should secure another top 5 finish w victory! Geaux Tigers!

I guess if Cotton broke their ties with the west just for this season, maybe Outback would break theirs with the east. I would much rather Cotton, but Clemson in Peach Bowl just isn't a very sexy matchup. I'd rather play in a new bowl game against a team like Nebraska.

Auburn played in the Outback 3 seasons ago.

LSU has never beaten Nebraska... 0-5-1 all-time. LSU lost to them in the national championship in 1970 I believe (17-12) and a few times in the 80s...

Sounds like a Big 10 grindfest with the score 17-10 LSU. Fans left wanting again.

This is what playoffs do. The conference championship games ARE one-game playoffs to crown a champion. If it were not for this game, Nebraska would be in the Rose Bowl. Playoffs PUT teams with multiple losses in the title games. If you don't believe it, check out how many 9-7 and 10-6 teams have played in the Super Bowl.

If it is the Outback Bowl, it will be a great trip. Raymond James Stadium is a great football venue and there are lots of really nice places to stay in the Tampa Bay area. I would personally recommend staying in Clearwater Beach.

There are also the best strip clubs on earth right down the road from the stadium.

I would love this Bowl game.

Yeah it's a real problem when a team like LSU might wind up playing a team that is unranked (Nebraska) in a bowl game.

The BCS was designed to get a guaranteed #1 and #2 matchup. They got that. I also thought a by product of that was to get the top teams into similar matchups in BCS bowls. What a joke this is turning out to be.

Even UGA playing Texas is a joke, after last nights loss UT is going to be outside the top 20.

I'll never go to the Outback after the many years they have overlooked LSU.

Mons Venus?
Had some good times there.
I am praying for an Outback Bowl bid, but I know I am in the minority.

Playoffs in Pro sports don't take the teams with the best record (e.g. had they done so in MLB this year the Detroit Tigers wouldn't have made it), the division leaders are always in the post season. So why should a conference in NCAA Football be viewed differently than a division?

It just means the team needs to play harder and concentrate more these days to win their conference which is the way it should be.

And thinking about the future with the SEC expansion, the fact that Texas A&M will now be a draft force impacting teams (like LSU) who have managed to poach players from Texas schools who wanted to play in the SEC for career-future reasons, I suspect the years of undefeated SEC West teams are going to be history.

Fans need to start worrying less about other teams' rankings and W/L ratios and more about winning the SEC division.

Win division, win championship and then worry about playing your way through the playoffs.

LSU vs. UT in the Cotton Bowl...

quote:

Auburn played in the Outback 3 seasons ago.

10 of the last 12 Cotton Bowls have had SEC West teams
and 14 of the last 15 Outback Bowls have has SEC East teams

and there's this...

"Cotton Bowl chairman Tommy Bain told the Austin American-Statesman on Saturday night that LSU is 'the favorite in the clubhouse.'"
