This team will score, but ultimately we go as far as our defense will take us. That’s a little unfortunate at this point. We haven’t been strong defensively under McMahon yet.

Mackinnon struggles defensively when he’s on the ball although his length helps him a little. I hope he’s not starting when conference play begins. I think Reed or Miller might have to pick up the slack for Tamba, who seems kind of similar to Dji Bailey in what he’s asked to do.

This is unquestionably the best team McMahon has fielded at LSU, but I don’t think we really know what that means yet

Watching these top 25 teams play against each other is what LSU should be doing to get to that next level but instead schedule non co ference games against Sorry arse U to pad their stats before conference play obliterates them again.

Reed and Miller have to step it up for this team to go anywhere. Sutton is a player, Thomas and Nowoko have some potential. We don't know much now because of the schedule. Mackinnon needs to be a sub.

oh you again..

There was a strong push to get Wade back to LSU. Tate and Woodward shut it down quickly. That played a big part in both of them being pushed out at LSU. The faction that wanted McMahon gone are still around. Tate and Woodward aren't.

No there wasn't. Wade is not coming back just stop. He's done here and is not coming back.

Ever.

Nope not next year either.

Or the next ..

Mcfraud will win just enough games to hold on to his coaching position, padding his record with weak competition at the beginning of the season …SEC play will once again expose the real Mcfraud …

I think the defensive rebounding is the teams biggest weakness thus far. We also, generally do not force many turnovers considering the weakness of our opponents.

I do think the offensive improvement is pretty significant so far. We have been relatively efficient, and haven’t seen as much of the stagnant offensive as we have had in the past. We also have been a pretty good offensive rebounding team.

So far I would say we have improved from last year as far as balance goes, we’ll see how they look when there is less of a talent gap. I think we’ll see more conference wins this season than last. Not sure I see a tournament team though.

MM is the biggest winner through all this mess

It's hardly winning to be in command of a program which has transmogrified from one of the best in the league to the worst, in only three years! You can't make me believe McMahon is happy coaching games in a nearly empty, tomb-like PMAC and engendering the level of ill will he has since arriving in 2022.

Probably still a bit too early to say that. If anything, it looks like they may have just flipped the imbalance. Last year LSU was a decent defensive team (64th in KP). The were horribly inefficient offensively (136). While still very early, LSU has been efficient offensively (top 30ish) but the defense is dropping like a rock. Currently in the 70's, which is down about 25 spots from where they were just a week ago.

They are scoring the ball well (from 2) and getting to the FT line. One bit of concern is the last two games they've been below 30% from three with basically one guy, Sutton, showing he can consistently hit from deep. The turnover number, while not as bad as prior years, is still not good. That's a concern for team that doesn't attempt a lot of FGs as is (currently 3rd to last in FGA among SEC teams). What's propping up the offensive efficiency numbers right now is LSU has been excellent from 2 -- 66% (No. 5 nationally) and getting to the FT line (No. 4 nationally in FT's made per game). Wade rode that formula to some really efficient offenses. However, the TO numbers were much lower for those teams.

That aspect hasn't been good, but it hasn't been horrible either. It's kind of middle of the pack...even if you account for the level of competition.

This is probably a bigger concern IF LSU is going to continue to allow opponents to shoot a high FG%. I say IF, because LSU did a decent job in that category in the first two games. But if you are going to allow opponents to shoot it well AND you don't force TOs/block shots, it's going to be a LONG year defensively.
