God Bless you family & son....it takes a big person to admit they have a problem & fight like hell to triumph over it!!!
St. Christopher's has a stellar reputation well known over here in Orlando
I only live here now after having come here in '98 due to my line of work......I miss BR everyday, even with all it's problems, it is and always will be home!!

Just visited my son in BR and decided to revive this old thread. This was the first chance we have had to go visit, and I can say that we had a wonderful time.
The campus was beautiful; loved Mike's habitat, countless old oaks, stately neighborhoods, and some damned fine eating. Folks were great, and we look forward to our next visit.
I'll be glad to have an LSU grad in the family; and as I stated so long ago at the beginning of this thread, we continue to give thanks to God, and to the many gracious folks in your fine city who helped save my son.
Happy Easter

One day at a time. Learn as much as you can about his illness,it usually is a family affair. Good luck and God Bless your loved ones.

I may have met your son in one of the meetings in BR. My life was saved just like your son's was when I was 19 years old. One day at a time and 38 years later the miracle continues for me. The program works.
Thanks for the post. Hope to hear from you again.
Happy Easter!

Redemption is a mighty fine virtue. My only sibling lost the same fight, sadly. I'm happy for your son and your family. And thanks for sharing your story with us.

You are not alone Dad. Each kid is different, so hopefully you not have to go thru to many relapses. Took me a long time to learn to appreciate he sober time & endure the relapses. My youngster has been sober for 5 years, but I accept the fact that it is a lifelong battle.
Hope there is no guilt on your part. I raised 2 & 2 stepchildren. From the time we merged the families, I tried to be as consistent in parenting as I possibly could. In hindsight, hint I did a pretty good job. The end result, raised an Academic All-American QB & a heroin addict. Each choose there own paths regardless of our guidance.
Thoughts and prayers with all.

Happy Easter to you and yours Doc. Lots to be thankful for
I share a similar story... drug addict and alcoholic as I checked myself into treatment at 19 yrs old (12-27-87). Been clean & sober for 28+ yrs living one day at a time. I do what I can to help others today since God blessed me with a second chance in life

My son just got his one year chip and is an inspiration to me. Don't know if I could have done what he did. Same for your son. It takes a special person to realize when they need help. Even more so when they seek it, as our sons did. All recovering addicts are special.
You and I are more similar than you think. If you ever want to talk, visit with my wife and me, or have our sons meet and preach the rehab gospel, contact me at phind1@cox.net. Happy for your family and your son.
