5-1 with a world class defense.
None of the 5 wins are against teams that are currently ranked. The P4 teams we've beaten are all .500 or worse.
The defense is great, but as we've seen over 6 games, the offense isn't even treading water.

Yet we are 5-1 with a world class defense.
You would find issues if we were 6-0, leading in offense and sluggish on defense.
Its how you are wired.

Except our offense wasn’t good (outside of Southeastern). The offense is starting to click, and our defense is more proven. LSU is not losing this game.
Even if we improve over last week, the run game will never be the strength of this team, especially down our starting RB. We should have done better vs Ole Miss and we did do better against a much better front 4 last weekend, but this offense couldn’t take advantage of Ole Miss’ big weakness, and that doomed us.
Vandy’s weakness is pass defense. They have given up big plays and yards to both good and bad teams. They have been able to work around this against everyone but Bama, but they eventually got exposed. We will do the same.
Nuss’ flaws aside, Vandy’s weakness still plays to our strength and our biggest concentration of talent. If we have Anderson at anything close to full speed and Green playing as well or better than last week, then Vandy will not be able to stop our passing game. They will have to depend on turnovers or injuries to slow it down.
It also doesn’t hurt that, as good as Clark Lea is, his former boss knows a thing or two about how he plays and calls defense.

You have to be able to acknowledge things that can get you beat (and have at this point). If Ole Miss can do this, you think Texas A&M cant? You think Alabama cant? You think a healthy QB led Oklahoma cant?
We all like/love LSU Football, but just blindly going along with whatever product is being put out there is something some folks can't and won't do, and it will be voiced here.
There are a lot of people here that have watched a lot of football...you kinda can see when a team has real deficiencies that can hinder your season by the halfway mark. The great thing is that LSU has a chance to silence a lot of naysayers and take a real step forward here this weekend. It's on them though. A loss here would be devastating.

Of course.
But to read this board the past two weeks a person would think this team has to be 0-6.
its been pathetic. Nothing wrong with critical thinking but this is just negativity and has become a brain rot .

Well I mean its a blog open to all. You will have extremes on both sides. A lot of folks here are also being pragmatic about the season so far. Id stick to dialog with them lol.

When the o line is seen as weak and not technically sound, this is what you get.

The hell has vandy done to earn this much media hype and praise ? They lost at bama in the only challenge they had by double digits and the rest of their schedule has been dog crap. Brian Kelly has won at least 9 games every year he’s been here.vandy won more games then they lost for the first time in over a decade last year. That’s enough to earn them this much respect ?

W by several scores. Pavia was emasculated already, no one takes him seriously anymore

"They're going to come out and play Vandy football..."
I dont think he understands what he is saying.

quote:frick off. After losing by 5 on the road to Ole Miss, people wanted Kelly fired, Davis fired, Sloan fired, shitting on the defense, wanted Nuss to just declare for the draft, and thought we'd be 6-6 or 7-5 the rest of the way.
Being honest about our struggles isn’t disrespectful.
You know damn well people are going overboard on here.

I don’t think roster flexes are as big of a deal as they used to be, and Vandy’s roster is improved significantly from years past, but without multiple explosive plays by Vandy, huge drive extending/killing penalties by LSU, or multiple bad turnovers by LSU, LSU’s roster advantage will be too much.
The thing is, LSU can probably afford one of each of those negatives and still prevail. If you have multiple, that will be a problem. Vandy cannot allow two of those things to happen and expect to win.

This isn't the old Vandy.
they dink and dunk and run misdirection....then bust a 60 yarder. if the elder Weeks is out, having less experienced LBers is not good when running this kind of offense.

Well, they've only lost once by less than 1 score. What other metric does a person with a brain need?

It’s deserved. Have you watched this team? The “progress” from one week to another is laughable. CBK has shown that he doesn’t even realize what the problem is and/or how to fix it. Our Heisman trophy candidate forgot how to throw a pass and we can’t run on 3 man fronts. It’s been real but the wheels are about to come off. The sooner you realize that, the better you’ll be when it happens. We’re realistically looking at a 4 loss season.
