Hes gone though 5 OCs. So who is the only culprit in the run of bad QBs?

And who the hell puts an undefeated QB on the bench, and says the other guy gives us the best chance to win. WTF?

Didn't W. Kentucky boast the same type poor defense? I know the field was wet, and it rained though the first half, but we really didn't run over them like it was expected. Most run defenses are poor because they have to play both pass and run. that isn't necessary when they play us. they sell out on stopping one phase of our game because they know the other in itself can't beat them. And they know because stats show they have a poor rush defense that our coach will attack them there, and not try to pass.

i'll just say this and leave. Miles changes according to his QB. If he has a good QB who he trusts than we throw more and are more balanced. this is a fact thats backed up by stats. unfortunately we haven't had very good QBs...but thats a different discussion

I agree with you here, but we probably disagree on why we haven't had very many good QBs.

Miles doesn't allow his QBs to ever get into a rhythm has no idea how to get a QB into the flow of the game. We consistently run the ball on first and second down putting our QB in third and long and asking him to convert. Mett, arguably the best QB of Miles' tenure, was damn good at converting these third and longs (due in large part to the talent we had at WR).

We can't wait until talent like Mett, beckham and Landry come along to open up the passing game.

That doesn't change the fact that doing so and having success could dissuade Miles from thinking that the offense needs to change.

so you think that because of this game, if we have success on the ground, he is just going to completely forget about what has transpired throughout the last couple of years and what happened against Alabama and all the other hoopla that happened at the end of the season.

I just can't see that happening. Guess we'll just have to wait to next season to see how it all plays out. But no way do I believe that what happens in this game will affect anything regarding offense philosophy moving forward.

You forgot to mention refusing to develop BH against weaker opponents and expecting him to light it up against stronger competition when the running game was shut down.

In game experience is a problem, but to be honest, it looks like it's more than that. Sometimes, judging by the product on the field, I question whether we practice the passing game at all during the week.

They could put 22 in the box and it wouldn't make a difference.

I bet if you look at metts passing stats I bet the greatest majority of his passes came on third and medium and third and long. This is not opening up the offense this is passing out of necessity

Well, seeing that JJ was the starter going into the year, came in when Lee struggled against Bama, and finished leading us to the national title game, I'd say a coach that knew his personnel.

The bowl game is an end of the year glorified exhibition game. Nothing more. Treat it as such. Win or lose, it's the same result. The season is over. I'm not going to get overly excited if LSU wins, nor will I care all that much if they lose. That's the same way I looked at the previous bowl games against Clemson, ND, A&M, basically any bowl game besides 2011 and 2007. It's really just one more chance for me to watch my team play football before there are no games for the next 8 months.

That said, I don't expect LSU to completely "revamp" the offense, nor should they. Go out there and do whatever is necessary to win THIS particular game. If they are going to change things, do it in the offseason.

quote:

I would much rather be playing a team like Nebraska. A team with a good rush defense that will force us out of our comfort zone to get ready for next November.

No you wouldn't, because that might mean LSU is more prone to a loss. Les and the team are in a "no win" situation in the bowl game. If LSU wins, the reaction will be "well, they SHOULD beat a 7-5 team". If LSU loses, then the fanbase will go even more ballistic. The bowl game is not going to "get LSU ready for next year". There's going to be significant personnel changes for both LSU and all of their opponents that will make this year's results irrelevant as to next year's potential results.

We spend 365 days talking about LSU football here only for many to forget to enjoy the actual 3 month season. It's the last time LSU is going to play a game for a while. Just enjoy the damn thing!!!!

Normally when you get this far down in the .com bowl list there are no bad arse teams.
