in live action, it looked like a clean hit, great sack, send the punt team in.
Not really, I called it as soon as I saw it.

In live action on the catch fumble reversal looked like an in-completion. Boom boom, the ball is on the ground... In slow motion, it looked like a catch and fumble. "he took 3 steps"
So how do we separate the two calls when making these judgments in slow motion or in live action?
I could live with this call either way. I would have thought it was a catch but it was consistent with the play call they made on us against aTm last year that would have ended the game.

actually the A&m catch was legit, he took a football move in live action, it looked clean in live action..
the Clemson call never looked like a catch in live action.
as for sacking Clemson QB, I mean it's football, the guy with the ball standing there in the pocket is a target...he got leveled...
Glad he is ok and didn't get knocked out, I just thought it's tough on the defender to be ejected for it, let alone give Clemson the ball plus 15 which allowed a TD before half

I wish they would just bring back spearing rule

Imagine an imaginary line coming up through the spine into the head. If the extended line (within the head) fails to bend upward at least 45 degrees, the tackler has lowered the crown of the helmet and probably committed targeting.

I agree and I hate a lot of targeting calls, but this is definitely one. Its the defenders job to get his head out as much as possible, and this is the definition of leading with your head.

I don’t like it even it is by the rules targeting. Lawrence crouched down. Ge didn’t lower his head but there aren’t many other ways to tackle somebody when they do that and helmet to helmet is going to happen sometimes.

LSU was a victim of this with Devin White
No. White hit the QB while he was standing straight up and the contact was made with his hands to the QBs shoulders. That was a bs call.

If he keeps his eyes/head up....its a non issue

How do so many not understand the helmet to helmet does not matter here.
Had he hit him in the hip after Lawrence jumped in the air, but still hit him with the crown of the helmet, it would be targeting.
Can not hit a player defenseless or otherwise with the crown of the helmet. This rule is to protect the defender making the hit and hopefully reduce catastrophic spine injuries.

I think ejection on first offense is bad
Ejection is a good rule because if not a good player could be targeted the whole game by different players until he can't play anymore.
