You might get him at - odds for the CY next year
He will still be playing for the Bucs.......could lead the league in Ks, innings, WHIP and ERA and still be 10-10. But what he is doing now is just unreal, even to his biggest fans. It is must see baseball right now.

Beats Justin Steele for the Cubs. 2.95 ERA and is 1-3, 13 starts. 1 WIN.

They blow a lot of leads bc they can't score, but Paul is just lights out.

The pirates commentators just mentioned only one other pitcher has had two 11k+ and no hit outings in a single season since 1901, that is Nolan Ryan!

He may be a greater major-league pitcher than he was a college pitcher, and he was arguably the greatest college pitcher of all time

Can’t record losses when you don’t give up and runs

Another blow up game by Wheeler and Chris Sales, taking their ERA to 3++, Skenes could win it.

not sure if it factors in but Paul Skenes must have 95.2 more innings pitched the rest of the regular season to qualify for the ERA crown. Currently Seth Lugo the current ERA leader among qualified pitchers, he has a 2.21 ERA, has pitched 122 innings.

Basically the rule is 1IP per games played by the team, which means 162, Skenes currently has 66.1 IP. About 35 IP behind what he needs to qualify.

I think they do this to disqualify RPs.

But if Skenes doesn't pitch 162 innings, even if he has the best ERA of starters, would Cy Young voters vote for him? IDK

edit: only Reynaldo López has a better ERA if you factor in at-least 60 innings pitched, but López isn’t qualified either.

Voters are smart enough not to factor in W/L much for Cy Young right?

IP may be another issue, but just for this year.

It's been a long time but relief pitchers have won the Cy Young in the past, most recently Eric Gagne in 2003 with only 82.1 IP, and prior to that Dennis Eckersley in 1992

They’re only 2.5GB from a wildcard spot - hope they fight like hell to make the postseason instead of packing it in

sure, but I still think it is a factor right now. His odds are around +2500 or more on most betting websites. If he did this in a full season I think he walks away with the Cy Young the way he is pitching.

Did the morons show up in this thread too saying the league is about to figure him out? ??
