quote:lol LSU hadn’t WON a game in Omaha for SIX YEARS before Mainieri was brought in by Skip. lol
They were literally in the World Series two years before he took over lol.
So LSU was BY FAR the best program in all of college baseball when Mainieri was hired? lol Nope. lol

quote:ok. I asked when were they? Someone posted there were 4 previous ones. I simply wanted to know when were the last 2.
The previous two were 7 inning games.

LSU being no-hit:
All 7-inning games:
3/25/1978 vs. Auburn (L, 3-0) – Auburn’s Lynn Humphries
3/9/1974 at South Alabama (L, 2-0) – USA’s Tom Mercer
4/23/1914 at Texas (L, 5-0) – also 7 innings.

quote:You said Mainieri inherited the top program by far in all of college baseball. lol
I didn’t bring Smoke up
Mainieri inherited the program from Smoke Laval, so yes, you did bring up Smoke Laval. lol

The roster was shite when Mainieri got here. Does anyone remember 2007? He won the title in 2009 with his recruits. He also came here with two good assistants. Ever since then it's been the friends and family plan.

A legit criticism of him is after coming here with godwin and rooney, he got lazy with assistants. And what we have learned is without good assistants, he cant do the job. Looks like dunn is gonna be fine, but we just have to hope smith works out

Well that’s your problem right there, you think the coaches are above the program. Btw you can keep making straw men if you want to but they’re not relevant.

I love LSU baseball but I just cant get behind Paul, win or lose. I admit it’s all in how he handles most things and how can’t act like he’s confident even if he isn’t. Ive posted before, he looks like he’s gonna cry when we face adversity. I’d prefer him to act like we’re going to still win.
Flame away but I just think some confidence is needed in that dugout.

Lol never seen more deflection in my life. You exhibit two dimensional thinking, make an ignorant statement then deflect and run from it after it’s exposed.

I didn’t bring up Smoke you did that’s just another fact you can’t seem to deal with.

So none in Bertman era. None in Smoke era.

I have to say this: I am just giddy that more fans are FINALLY seeing what I’ve been preaching for the last two seasons.
Search my posts: I’ve been saying it.
We have been winning on talent, not coaching. If you dive in even more, you’ll see that CPM (and staff) have actually coached talent down rather than up.

Let the season play out. The starting pitching can take this team far

What qualifies you to be the judge on what is a legit criticism? Peoples opinions are as valid as they believe them to be!

quote:. I am fine with letting the season play out. I don’t want him fired during the season. But your comment about letting the starting pitching take this team far is what is wrong. This is LSU baseball. We shouldn’t be expecting one part of the team to carry the rest of the team. They should be a complete team. LSU has as many and more resources available for baseball than anyone. We should never be using excuses with LSU baseball

With that said, go check out the LSU Staff from 1989. That team was loaded with MLB pitchers and lost in Omaha after that incredible series in College Station. So you really have to let it play out. If the hitting is so bad you Aaron Nola types games where they lose 2-1 or win 1-0 for all three, you fire him at the end of it. You just don’t do it now.
