No question. When I look back, I realized that was the game that awoke the Giant. We knew then the type of talent we started to bring in could compete with the big boys. I will never forget that night.ever. Changed LSU football!

Georgia 03

LSU was ahead the whole game, Georgia ties it late in the 4th quarter 10-10 on a 93 yard screen pass. Despite this, Tiger Stadium begins chanting "LSU...LSU.."

We didn't give up. We knew we could beat them.

Not really. LSU turned around the next week and promptly got embarrassed by unranked Ole Miss, at home. They followed up the '97 season by going 4-7 in 98 and 3-8 in 99. That game was the pinnacle of the Dinardo era. Everything went immediately down-hill from there.

The 97 game was a great game. But it didn't have the constant tension and emotion of the 07 game. In 97, LSU unexpectedly jumped out to a 14 point lead early. By the 3rd quarter UF had tied it and most in the crowd thought "well, at least we hung in there for a while". Then Donaldson had the interception that changed the game. I'll always remember the game for huge moments, but not the 60 minutes of tension the 07 game had. It was the unexpected bliss of the underdog pulling an upset. But it didn't have the build up of....

2007 which had two of the best teams in the country going head to head in nationally broadcast CBS night game (when CBS didn't do night games). It was a warm and extremely humid night. The momentum swings were incredible. LSU basically chased UF all night. LSU would get close, then UF would answer to go up by 10. You also had maybe the most surreal moment I've ever experienced in Tiger Stadium. 3rd quarter. LSU scores to cut the lead to 3. The stadium was going nuts and during the commercial break after the TD the score of the USC/Stanford game was announced. The stadium went berserk because everyone knew if LSU won that night they were going to be ranked #1 (something that hadn't been accomplished in the regular season in decades). Florida then sucked the life out of the stadium once more by scoring on a busted coverage by LSU.

There were so many times you thought LSU was out of it, only for them to fight back in. Then the legendary 4 quarter drive happened. It was THE drive that turned Les in to LSU's leader vs. the guy who was "chasing Saban's ghost".

I've been a season ticket holder for nearly 30 years. It's the only time I've left Tiger Stadium physically exhausted from just watching a game. No other atmosphere has ever come close

How much better was our o-line in 07 than it's been these past few seasons? Or was Hester that good of a short yardage back?

10 years later, I still get chills thinking about that game.

I sat in the student section. Got there 2.5hrs early so I could be in the front row.

We were the ones calling Tebow and shittalking his voicemail prior to kickoff. After his first TD, he runs right in front of us making the cell phone gesture. We responded with a very LOUD "F*ck You Tebow" clap clap clap

What a night

I wasn't there for 97 but watched it on TV. So I can't judge that. It was huge, and the game speaks for itself.

There is something about that 03 UGA game that just separates itself from the other two. The gameday atmosphere was just electric from the time I got there, until the game was over. It was non stop screaming at the top of your lungs, and every single person in the stadium was like that from start to finish. It was just special, and a big gauge for where the program was heading.

The same could be said for the 07 Florida game. But honestly there were times during that game that were quiet. Especially when Florida got up 17-7 at the half. But obviously everyone remembers the fourth quarter, and all the conversions. Which were awesome, and the final game winning TD by Hester. That fourth quarter rivals the UGA game, but as a whole, it's in second place.

So my ranking would go

03 UGA
07 Florida
97 Florida

Without a doubt USC 1979 followed closely by Notre Dame 1971. Georgia 03 was a close 3rd.

I'd like to add to the description of what happened after the touchdown in the 03 UGA game...
the air went out of the stadium. But Batman, who was standing several rows ahead of me in the student section, turned around and ignited the crowd with the LSU chant. I learned that superheros are real that day.

Lots are talking about the letdown to OM after '97. Guess there was no Florida (four losses at the time) letdown two weeks later in '03 or Kentucky letdown in '07?

'97 was the turning point in bringing our program back, just like signing Faulk was the turning point in recruiting.

'79 USC was the best game in modern era at Tiger Stadium.

Florida 97, it's more fun to win the games you don't expect to win.
