Agree, expand the new arena capacity to 18,000 if WW returns.

Dom, I don't understand how you stand up for Jim. Is it like me and MK?

Jim is fricking terrible.

I generally stand up for content. I use the "even a blind deer finds an acorn occasionally" philosophy, where some posters are concerned. I'll have to look back and see where I was defending Jim on this one, though.

Why does everyone insist on this? Dude was fun. That Vandy game with Alleva getting booed for suspending him was an awesome experience and it was a huge start to the Alleva exit, which helped us get here. He is great for LSU. Talked to much about what he did, but he has paid his dues more than the Blue Bloods. Make LSU fun again, look what Kiffin has done. Wade would be the same.

He is at a better basketball school now,

This is often repeated, but it's premised on a skewed, outdated perspective.

Since 2000 NC State's average finish in the ACC is 8th. It hasn't been a consistently good program since Jim Valvano left. LSU fans, who don't follow basketball, see "ACC" and "North Carolina" and reflexively think it must be a "better" basketball school. It really isn't when compared to LSU with the only differentiating factor being two NCs won 40-50 years ago.

As mentioned, McMahon is making more at LSU than Wade is making at NC State....and McMahon (based on annual salary) is the lowest paid HC in the SEC. LSU could offer Wade what Miss. St. is paying Jans and it would be a (nearly) $1.5M bump in pay for Wade.

Of the top 30 highest paid HCs in college basketball 4 are in the ACC...10 are in the SEC. While there may be more passion for basketball relative to football in the ACC, that doesn't mean there is no passion for basketball in the SEC. It simply a matter of winning. Just look at two other programs who share the PMAC, gymnastics and WBB. LSU fans don't have some longstanding love for either program. It's just that both are winning at a championship level. Start consistently winning in basketball and the EXACT same level of support will follow.

And from a conference perspective, the SEC is pulling away from the ACC. You're seeing it in the last 5 years where more SEC teams are making the NCAAT than ACC teams. More importantly, you're seeing it in the financials. The ACC is desperately trying to hang on. They even have programs eager to leave (FSU and Clemson). The SEC is thriving. And now may be a great time to jump in because a power vacuum could be taking place. Pearl is out at Auburn. Barnes at Tenn. is 71. Cal is 66 and hasn't been as dominant in this new era of the sport. Kentucky is backsliding. Of the "powers that be" when Wade was last in the SEC, only Alabama seems stable for continued long term success. The others are, or will probably soon be, in transition.

Wade was right to compare LSU to Florida in terms of it being a potential "sleeping giant". He just watched a young HC come into Florida and use a highly analytical approach to roster building quickly spring board to a National Championship.

NC State is a good job. No one should argue otherwise. But to totally dismiss the potential of LSU is foolish.

A lack of interest that leads to "groupthink". This is the time of year many start their two week "interest" in basketball and, as such, grace the board with the definitive statements based upon no logic or evidence whatsoever.

Hey Alt, apparently money =/= mouth isn't decent enough.

Some dudes I respected have gone a bit, it's $50.

I thought TD was maybe genuine.

Lol missed that part! I was thinking in my head like that guy would take that type of demotion, but I guess that’s the LSU brand now. That said, as the associate AD he surely has a relationship with Will Wade in some capacity.

I absolutely would too. Would have them bought before the press conference happens. Coupled with a small but reasonable NIL donation for MBB.

Embrace the dark side, LSU. Be the villain. Make it happen.

Last year I would have thought there was no shot, and I still think that, but it's not on LSU's side now, I think they would make the move. I don't know about Wade.

THAT is why McMahon is still the HC. So the people who wanted Wade last year "fixed the glitch" and helped push Tate and Woodward out.

You’re making shite up. Wade had zero reason Woodward was shite canned.

Look at it in this context. Wade is directly/indirectly responsible for the removal of 2 LSU Presidents and 2 ADs.

In 2019 the fans and donors revolted when F. King and Alleva suspended Wade on the eve of LSU securing the SEC Championship and weeks before the NCAAT. If you were in the PMAC the night of the Vanderbilt game you saw and heard it. While that one event was not the only reason F. King and Alleva were push out, it was the final douse of gasoline to turn the fire into a raging inferno.

Fast forward to 2025. I've said it multiple times (many choose to not believe it). There was a push to get Wade back to LSU at the end of last season. The Governor, while not publicly like he was with Kelly, was involved. Tate/Woodward refused to go along with the push. Again, while not the only reason, it was the final step to push Tate out. He didn't have the support of the majority of BOS, that Landry appointed. Woodward also made an enemy of the Governor and his financial backers. So when the football season collapsed, Landry seized the opportunity to get rid of a dissenter in Woodward. But the first seeds of that dissent was the refusal to consider rehiring Wade.

Love him or hate him, the guy has the ability to build relationships with powerful and wealthy people in the state of Louisiana
