So you're saying Watkins is useless and Katz isn't that great.. Thanks for the info.

So by "I'm opening the debate" you meant "hey everybody come in the thread and agree with me."

I'd play Watkins against Cole due to his control issues. We need guys on base who can run.

Right now, Katz is the best option, IMO. Not sure if Trey's elbow isn't 100% or if he is just having timing issues.

I found it interest the PM went with Dishon to run and play LF before Trey week. I would think Trey is just as fast as Dishon and prolly a better fielder

No. But I didn't mean for nay sayers to rain on the parade either. Your statements have an air of finality to them. I like Katz and Watkins. I would be happy with either.

Agreed. I've read that Dishon is the fastest on the team as well.

If Katz keeps playing airtight defense and getting clutch hits, there is no need for Trey until we need to make substitutions late in the game.

Katz hasn't been an allstar but Trey is so unconfortable at the plate I gotta believe Katz gives us better offense than Trey and the difference in defensive ability isn't that great.I think Trey sits until next year when he can work his way back to hitting.

Actually Trey has hit quite a few balls really hard right at the 1st basemen, i can think of 2 off the top of my head in that Miss St. series

Katz is playing decent right now. Sure Watkins and Dishon also have better skills than him and are better players. However, the point is Watkins and Dishon are both playing terribly, and Katz is playing well. Go for the safe bet and the right choice and keep playing Katz until he struggles too.

Dishon has become a defensive liability and can't hit.

...Oops I thought someone was suggesting putting Dishon in left field but it was just about pinch running.

I don't see why Mainieri didn't keep Watkins in the field after he pinch ran. Defense isn't his problem right now. He was probably lagging around because he's bummed about slumping since returning.

Stay with Katz, you never take a hot player out of the line up to see if someone is out of a slump this late in the season. Keep Trey loose for a situation we may need additional speed on the bases and use him as a pinch-runner or God forbid another injury occurs and we need him to play the field.

he is a liability at the plate right now and we probably won't have any opportunities this year to try and let Trey work out of it,imo.
