Make no mistake, I’m not criticizing it. And I agree and have said all along, this staff is not gonna be traditional. But would you not agree the 4th inning is early to have already gone to your 2 hardest throwing back end guys? Again, not criticizing, just trying to figure it out. Was this the plan all along or did Hellmers’ bad outing change it?

Ump is garbage. That strike called was a ball 2 pitches ago. Impossible for hitters to get in a rhythm when umps are so inconsistent

Jay went high leverage early to get us through the order a few times. Notice he’s got Cooper up now to change some pace. Really just feeling out the game as far as sequence goes.

My guess is they planned to throw them regardless and figure to throw them now in close game to try and let the offense get going without giving up too much. Still have plenty guys available for the back end. They watching pitch counts probably and everyone will be available for the weekend.

This may be completely wrong and dumb, but maybe he’s pitching them early so they will get a few more hours of rest before they pitch late in games this weekend.
