re: Underwood flipping was the biggest blessing

I don't think it would have mattered much besides BK getting fired at the end of the season instead of after A&M. Underwood wasn't going to account for one additional win, and when ultimately underperformed on the field and we still lost games, everyone would have said how much more besides the consensus #1 QB and player does BK need to win a championship? And that's just surface things as fans we observe, all of the other neglect was likely well known to the boosters.

I don't disagree with any of that. The last few years of the Miles era were brutal as a fan and all the joy was sucked out of LSU football. But the fact remains that he kept rosters stacked with talent and defeated high quality opponents more often than not. In fact Miles' teams beat the ever living crap out of some really good teams over the course of his tenure.
I think there's recency bias with regard to Miles and we focus too much on the end of his tenure. If Saban had gone to, say, Notre Dame after he left Miami, or Bama not been given a do-over in 2011, we'd think a lot differently about Les.

quote:Wrong. The analysis is wrong.
If he comes here there’s no way BK and Sloan are gone, no matter our record.
Bryce not coming didn’t just expedite Kelly and Sloan a fraudness. It allowed us to spend money on a defense that got the program back where it needs to be on that side of the ball, and likely why Baker decided to stay.
It also allowed us to go stockpile talent in the QB room with the portal.
The trickle effect is amazing.
If Bryce comes here, LSU does NOT win one more game. Bryce was suboptimal at Michigan. He would have been suboptimal here. LSU has, at best, the exact same record. Kelly got fired because of LSU's performance in the Texas A&M game. Bryce would not improve LSU's performance in that game.
If Bryce comes here, LSU does NOT acquire the senior defensive talent it acquired for 2025 with the money earmarked for Bryce. Without that talent, Kelly and Sloan don't even make it to the Texas A&M game.
The vast majority, if not all, of the talent acquired with the $1.5 million earmarked for Bryce in 2025, won't be here in 2026. That talent is gone.
Whether Bryce comes or not, Kelly and Sloan are gone. The talent we got with Bryce's money is gone now too.

True . Don’t understand the 16 downvotes .

It was both. Dude knew BK was a clown, as did most of us.

It was final nail in the coffin and forced the abrupt change that would have otherwise surely lingered on way too long.
Rousse and Ausberry each have a sharpened Axe in their office ready for lowering on McHallman!

I disagree. It would have given him cover again because Brice just needs to grow more. The excuses were plenty and when you're going to have to pay that much to get rid of him, excuses offer protection. I think the total regression of Nuss and his handling of whatever injury there was is what ultimately sank BK. When you spend and go all in and see a worse team, there's no real excuse anymore. Either way, I'm glad he's gone. Even if nothing at all gets better, I'm glad his arrogant azz is gone.

This right here. The combination of the aw-hello-no emotions and the optics was a combustible mixture
