good. Nothing brings out a home field advantage in 90 degree heat like dark uniforms
Weird how the other 130 teams who wear dark colors at home are fine

as a kid who grew up in the 80's, this is traditional to me.

They weren’t impressive but it was not a close call.

good point, but to be fair, at least half of those 130 teams don’t have Louisiana’s heat and humidity.

Do you know what uniforms are made of? It’s not polyester.
Nike Dri-fit is polyester, dumbass.
In fact, all “breathable” sports fabrics are polyester.

it is interesting the science is conflicting of whether or not it makes a difference, and if it does it is perhaps negligible, but good data is admittedly hard to find. What is clear is that the type of fabric makes much more of a difference, and we no doubt have the latest and greatest in that regard.
There is data to suggest that darker colors make a team play more aggressively, though again, I would guess that effect is probably negligible as well.
That uni combo (G/P/G) was the home uni when I was at LSU in the mid-late 80's, I don't care for it and think it is garish. The G/W/G is clearly one of the best uniforms in all of sport and I hate to not be wearing it up against the UCLA blue (used to be powder blued, changed to a brighter tone).

I hope this is a troll…. If not I feel genuinely bad for you.
I believe USCe wore black for a noon game right?
How did they survive?!?

the temperature was about 10° cooler in Columbia than it will be in Baton Rouge this weekend.

Valid point, but still…
I don't know how big of a difference it truly makes, but the heat in the very Deep South is the reason why LSU mostly played at night (until TV got involved) and wore white at home.
and we aren't the only ones.
It's why the Texas Rangers in Baseball got a blackout exemption from the league and plays mostly night games instead of midday (they can close the roof now)
It's why the Cowboys mostly wear white at home.
The Dolphins like to wear white at home

I grew up as a kid in the 80s also.
We have the BEST DAMNED UNIFORM in college football with the g/w/g.
We should only wear anything else when the opponent forces us to, and as a matter of fact, before signing ANY out of conference contract, I would mandate that we be allowed to wear white.
There is a lot to be said for having ONE beautiful, instantly identifying uniform. On the rare occasion an SEC opponent forces us to wear purple, other school's fans should say "I've never seen LSU in anything other than g/w/g."

Used to be wearing purple jerseys was bad luck.
It was under Les. Every time we played in them it seemed we dragged arse. I've warmed up to them since and can't wait to see them tomorrow.

So heckin pumped about the purple.
If only we could make the "lsu" font 2x bigger in the endzones to get rid of all that blank space

Doesn’t LSU always wear purple for the second non conference home game? Why are ya’ll surprised by this?
Not for Power 5 opponents.
It’s only for scrubs.
Do not like. We aren’t Oregon.
Exactly. Big opponent, wear White. Personally never been a fan of the purple jerseys.
This is the matchup on the field I was looking forward to.

That's what we saw in 2021, in the Rose Bowl. Didn't help LSU; that game was the beginning of the end for Coach Oeaux

The gold-purple-gold "curse" actually began in the 1960s under Cholly Mac. Back in those days it would be road opponents who would opt to wear white for a game vs LSU, putting the Tigers in purple. I remember Florida did it a few times, as well as Miami, Miss State, Kentucky and a couple of other teams, usually with devastating effect.

Fans who get their panties in a wad about wearing purple are ridiculous.
