and not it wasn't a new thing, old people are slower mentally so they like women's basketball. go to a game, its all old people lesbians and children, and also lesbian children and old people

Amazing what happens when you replace a mediocre coach with a Kim Mulkey. It was as close to overnight success that you could get. The women’s games LSU used to drape a curtain over half the seating and the fans all sat on one side. Now the PMAC is filled each game.
And people on here insist we can’t have this for the men. Poppycock!

this is kind of a message board meme that will always be repeated every time the men are bad. for sure I have seen this point made at least a dozen times here. its inevitable and will be said over and over.
the men would beat the women at a score of the mens choosing. the global elite women play at middle school male level, at basically every sport except long distance swimming and ultra long running.

I didn’t say they were more competitive. Youth sports, while not as athletic or as advanced as adults, can still be competitive and provide for a level of excitement. Women’s basketball is not the same thing as men’s basketball and I find it more enjoyable by not comparing them to men. Some people enjoy different things. It doesn’t make one better or worse than another, it’s just different.

Yes, of course, they play women in games, but because they practice against men every day, the game slows down when they play women and it ends up being easier for them to compete.Does that not make any sense to you? Do you think she does this every day just to waste everybody's time? Kim Mulkey does not seem like the kind of woman who would waste a whole lot of time on frivolous acts.

Because they didn’t say it and that’s not what that article said at all and it seems like you are reading “the coded message” into it. It was purely based on observations and they interviewed some older people. There were no tests or studies done. This is not “objective fact” that old people like women’s basketball because their minds are slow. I have enjoyed watching women’s basketball since I was in high school. I just enjoy watching competition at different levels. If this was objective proof, how can an old person with such a slow mind like me enjoy watching the fast pace of men’s basketball as well as women’s basketball? It’s okay that other people can enjoy something you don’t.

Bingo. This is, in fact, a message board. And this statement is intentionally hyperbolic to be provocative and -- for some -- entertaining.
The statement arises from irony (or at least the rarity) of LSU having perennially good women's basketball and horrible men's basketball.
The 2026 teams are even more polarized. As the season goes on, the women look like a Final 4 team, while the men look like a rag-tag juco team.
It seems we will always have great women's BB and dog shite men's BB. May as well have some fun with it.

yes I know because women are slow so they don't actually have to play better fundamentals than men to make up for it because they can still win without being overwhelmed by athleticism.
the argument that women are better at spacing and shooting and fundamentals is based on the assumption that because they are very slow and bad athletes they have to make it up by being better at fundamentals. but they don't have to make anything up or compensate for their lack of athleticism because the opponents are also slow as molasses.
women can win while being worse at fundamentals and athleticsm. because their opponents are also women who are terrible. far fewer women play basketball than men so the talent pool is far worse.

I think higher levels of talent are generally more entertaining. like those games of mutants and screw-ups and children at halftime in the PMAC are funny but really not competitive.
its fine you like the women's game. old people and lesbians need hobbies. we as a society should show more respect for our elders especially as their minds slow down.

It's true that it's intentionally hyperbolic. Why are you being so obtuse?
I think we both know that fundamentals, shooting talent, and coaching won't help a 5'10 point guard shoot over on a 6'8 defender.
But the underlying point stands. At LSU, WBB is awesome. Mens BB sucks. That's what makes the comparison funny for normal people.
