He’s fine but lacks enthusiasm at times.

Example: his call of that ridiculous Burrow to Jefferson play vs UGA was so blasé.

to be honest i like Jim over Chris especially football...Chris has more of a baseball voice so it would be close for me on this with Jim coming out on top

man, if this season doesn't emotionally move him, nothing will. This was one of the best seasons and best offenses in college football history. Dozens of great plays.

If he wasn't geeked up and emotionally involved this year, it won't happen.

I feel the same, he’s fine. Not awesome, not terrible. I don’t ever do exclusively radio but if I did I wouldn’t care for it; I feel like he leaves a lot of meat on the bone on a play by play basis. Like the point gets across but I just feel like there could be so many more details relayed to really engross listeners, especially football. It’s hard to explain but I’ve thought it for awhile now.

I honestly dont really even notice the difference between him and Hawthorne other than Blair doesnt constantly get shite wrong like Hawthorne did. I think people just look for stuff to bitch about. Blair does a fine job and his excitement for LSU is growing after every call. Give him time he will become the homer all of you want him to.

I grew up on Ferguson, back before the days of ESPN when radio was it.

Fantastic voice and emotionally involved, but he had a HUGE delay in his calls. I often would hear the crowd cheer and it would take another 4-5 seconds before Ferguson told us what happened.

That's my only beef with him.

Don’t care. He seems to be a little better than Hawthorne. Hawthorne was a little better than Ferguson.

Ferguson GOAT voice for sure. He would confuse you about what was happening though.

He is technically so much better than Hawthorne or Ferguson it's not even comparable. No matter the sport he understands what's going on and gives you a good mental picture. This is especially true in baseball, where with Hawthorne he had no idea how to describe the ball coming off of the bat.

He is becoming more and more a homer, he will never get to Hawthorne's level, but I far prefer him because I never get frustrated by him making calls that are in no way resembling what's going on in the game.

I had to go to the store during the last game and after the play I figured it was an 8 yard pass by the way he acted, it was the throw where chase stopped on the sideline

Ya know why? Because I'm friggin' OLD and that's how I remember them!

Chris Blair is doing an outstanding job as the voice of the Tigers. Remember, all y'all effers, it wasn't all thta long ago ya'll were bitching about Hawthorne. So let it go and enjoy the calls made by the man behind the microphone who brings us LSU.

I think Chis calls a really good game. Paints a nice picture and the down and distance and play clock info add up.

Jim was defiantly a homer and had a lot of passion but I can't tell you how many times Jim screwed up the math.

For example:

"1st and 10 Tigers.
Fournette off the right side for a nice gain of 6. Second and 4.
The give is again to Fornette to the right side for a nice gain of 5.
Third and 1. I guess coach is sticking with what is working until they stop it."

Hawthorne wasn't really either. He was a N. Louisiana guy with no real ties to LSU (went to Northwestern St. and started out in their broadcasts) until he got the LSU job.

Chris is doing a fine job (like you say, polished and gets things right). I'd rather him ease into the "homerism" than have it forced.

baseball is terrible. The out is recorded and then he says a grounder to 2nd.

I miss the passion JH had.

Glad you admit this. Blair is very good and if you go back and listen to his calls from the Florida or Bama game, or see any of the booth videos, you’ll see he’s plenty excited.

Even listening to the natty highlights I don’t see where this whole “he has no passion” thing comes from.

I think he does a terrific job.

He is not a good fit. Hoping Woodward helps get him a promotion to MLB on tv, where he would be ideal. Get in it, Scott.
