Leave it to a Duke fan to believe Ed Orgeron was the best guy available for LSU.

Absolutely not.

Yes and yes. I'd love to see where this is going. I've got a hunch

I'm just curious if you are doing that job exacly the way you did it from day one.

Yep figured that was the route you were going down. Listen, of course there's a chance O is a 100% different coach than he was in 2007 and learned from every one of his many pitfalls and won't be again a colossal failure. But wouldn't you have liked to see a little bit of proof? I'm sorry but a couple of pretty nice stints as an interim coach and some years as a DL coach doesn't do it for me. I'm cheering for the guy because he's LSUs head coach now, but this is a lazy, lazy hire and I just can't believe this is what it came to.

What proof would have been sufficient?
He was better at USC than at OM.
He was better at LSU than at OM.

Oh well it doesn't matter. You didn't get your way and you need to pout.

Have at it.

Being a permanent head coach for at least a couple years at a D-1 program and not being a total failure. Being an interim coach and being a permanent coach are two completely different animals with completely different levels of pressure and expectations, obligations, etc.

Sorry for voicing an opinion on my favorite sports team. I forgot this ISNT a sports message board.

You will always be a failure. You will never progress in life. This is your ceiling because you don't look for a better career path but only what made you feel good at the time and easy decision. You are doomed and never will become upper class or part of the elite. You will always fail.

What you say is all true and is the glass is half full perspective. The other perspective is that his wins as an interim coach are not really representative of what he will do when the "interim" tag is removed, because teams win games with what they do in the offseason in terms of recruiting, assistant coaching hires, strength and conditioning and scheming during spring practices and preseason camp. His record when he was the man for an extended time was not too sharp but as you say, it was a long time ago. I hope he is a huge success but this looks much more like a wing and a prayer than an educated guess.

Proof?

Proof of what? That he was not a good head coach a decade ago?

Again, what does that have to do with the quality of coach he will be in 2017? We aren't getting the Ed Orgeron of 05-07, and because I know for a fact that he's better now than he was then, I don't see why it matters.

That he can now handle running a program (not in an interim role).

You have a guy who literally coach the team to a 6-2 record.

We went toe to toe with Bama like few teams in the country could, and Guice fumbled away our win against Florida.

You know this translates to a 9-3 average right? Not exactly the bar we were hoping for with this hire.

Lsu fans Nick Saban is never ever coming back.

You have to blaze your own trail and not be a head coach poaching program like Ohio State bama and Texas.

No one knew Nick until he won at LSU.

No one knew Les until he won at LSU.

That's why I look at LSU as a unique powerful program. I thought LSU fans would be proud of the fact that their program makes the coach not the coach makes the program.

Everyone is upset because LSU chose the best guy with all things considered.

I'm upset because Alleva has no gonads. This whole adventure shoulda-woulda-coulda been done right had they canned Miles last year. They would have had the entire off season.

I just want us to hire the best coach available. You really wouldn't trade places with Ohio State or Bama? I just can't comprehend your logic
