Dale has a big personality, but he has shown himself to be a good guy in most of his undertakings. Plus, what he did when he first came to LSU is remarkable.

Great recruiter, awful coach. Neither him nor Gunter deserve to have the court named after them.

LSU women's basketball fans are watching the greatest of all time women's basketball coach right now.

Fair assessment.

He is a legend and most people on this site don't understand that. He made LSU basketball bigger and better than LSU football for years.

Damn if Dale doesn’t think highly of himself. He is so unlikable to me. In the clip

Are you old enough to remember LSU basketball prior to Dale Brown?
It. was similar to LSU Baseball prior to Skip.

Look at the record, number of times that we beat TN and or KY prior to Dale.

Would you rather have Dale or the pretender that now sits on the sideline?

The only team you could say that about is 1989-90 and that’s mostly 20/20 hindsight knowing what Shaq became. However Shaq just turned 18 in March of 90, it was a young team in an era when players stayed at least 3 and many, even lottery picks stayed 4 years.

He made 2 Final Fours and 2 other elite eight. Made the tournament 10 years in a row and 13 of 15. I was at LSU during that run it could be frustrating at times especially 89-90 but LSU basketball was relevant under Dale Brown. We would be extremely fortunate to have half his level of success again.

Yeah!
I have lived/worked in TN most of my adult life. While on Lunch break my friends at work were all discussing Basketball and typically, all the Vol fans were cursing Dale Brown. I was surprised when a good looking young Lady said, don't you criticize Dale Brown, he gave my brother a scholarship to College. I had heard the story about how hecklers had been harassing Brown and the Tigers while playing Tennessee in Knoxville. There was a young handicapped man in the group of hecklers. Dale stopped to talk to him, they became friends, and Dale gave him a scholarship.
Small world!

On the other hand, I was talking sports with another Vol fan who said, I don't think Dale Brown should be allowed to Coach in the SEC. This was after the Shaq vs Groves fiasco.
I told him, for years the Vols, coached by Ray Mears, kicked our arse. I despised Ray Mears.
Since Dale Brown came to Baton Rouge, I don't give a damn who is coaching the Vols.

I liked him until I met him. After that, I couldn't stand the guy. I met him when he was doing a speaking tour over in Europe. I was stationed in Germany and heard him speak at my base (kaserne). That was the same trip when he met Shaq at another nearby kaserne. I spoke with him briefly after the speaking engagement, and never liked the guy after that. He was completely dismissive to me and other troops who were there.

I'm gonna push back on this one cause my first two years in college I would argue were the deepest most talented rosters in our history 83-84 and 84-85. I'm not going to cut and paste the rosters but just go look, we were loaded.

And we lost to inferior teams in the first round of the tournament and badly, both were very embarrassing. And please don't give us a pass for Navy having David Robinson and four midgets, they beat us by 25 and they had not business competing with us.

Fair enough though I’ll push back and say 79-80/80-81 were our most talented teams but those mid 80s teams were some talented teams, D Taylor Anthony Wilson Ice Reynolds and Nikita Wilson was pretty strong. A big what if Nikita was eligible in 86

85 did win the regular season SEC, 90 we lost to freaking UGA, TWICE

iirc the loss to Navy was the ESPN Pepto Bismol upset of the week

Wish I could but I’m 41 and think Daddy Dale is an insufferable tool.
