a read option
off topic, i know.
don't know why, but using this term referring to only one type of play has always bugged me.
technically speaking every single option type play is a read option.
the QB makes a "read" and "decides" which option to go with.
whether running the triple option, the Wing T, RPOs, flexbone, etc. etc.
same with using "Tempo" to only refer to fast paced when the word itself can be used to describe any speed and not just one in particular.
get off my lawn!

We ran quite a few screens against Clemson.
For some reason they have disappeared
That's because with the drop 8, they have 2 linebackers sitting there ready to blow it up. At least for your traditional middle/RB screen. Other than that tunnel screens to Barion Brown or Anderson should highlighted in the playbook. Gets the ball to the outside immediately; gets the ball out of Nuss's hands to keep the hits down; and should be very effective against deep safeties.

I think those are RPOs not Zone Read. Nuss pulling it and running isn't part of the play.
But I agree that a quick hitting zone run might help. Don't hesitate, just get the ball to the RB immediately and remove the read/stutter/hesitation.
I get the offensive idea that they want zones/RPO/PA/Zone Read to all have similar action looks to make the defense think. It looks great on paper. But is clearly not working in practice.
To stack onto this idea of removing the hesitation. LSU also needs to pick up the pace on offense. I'm not saying they need to go full warp speed/HUNH, but the offense should be at the line and set with at least 20 seconds on the play clock. This is clearly a Sloan/Kelly issue. Get the damn play in (Sloan) and stop subbing players in and out for the sake of subbing.
eta: We saw this same issue last year. LSU is consistently not getting set until there are 10-15 seconds left on the play clock which forces a rushed snap and uncertainty when trying to check in/out of plays. This also forces LSU to call braindead timeouts to avoid penalties.

I really believe these coaches exist in a bubble and don't watch pro ball

Chicken, motion to ban every single person who upvotes this.
Seriously. This is the reason everyone blames coaching, instead of the actual issues on the field.

Why are we still running zone read
We actually aren't running zone read a bunch. We are calling a lot of inside zone and outside zone and a lot of RPO action behind inside zone but haven't actually run a bunch of true "zone read."

Don't need a running QB to run RPOs.

Have we run a screen pass this year ?

Tiger Fans: RUN THE DAMN BALL
Joe Sloan: Sorry, best I can do is give our running backs the ball 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage after our immobile QB threatens to run
