I think it'll be a lot like Russell under Miles.

Les said on the show last week that for next season we plan on slinging the ball for 200-300 yards per game with our tall QB's.

wasn't that said in response to "what would you tell WR recruits" or something to that effect? some dude came on here referencing that and talking about averaging 500 total ypg afterward.

Les Miles isn't going to morph into Mike Leach.

No, but there's a point between where we are now and Mike Leach. Look at 2007, the last year Les probably felt really comfortable with his QB. Flynn only threw less than 20 attempts once, and that was against South Carolina in the rain. Flynn also threw it more than 30 times 4 games.

Miles always gets the "Big 10" label and everybody thinks that all he wants to do is run it 75 times a game. But with the QB play the last 3 years, there's no doubt he's being super conservative in order to limit mistakes.

People forget as an OC he had some wide open offenses at OSU. Hell, he was the OC when Rashaun Woods caught 7 TD passes in 1 game.

I'd imagine that it would be about the same amount of attempts as if it were just Lee in there by himself. miles will still want a solid smash mouth ground game.

Meh, it wasn't SEC play and he didn't have a access to this stable of backs.

He didn't have a storehouse full of top talent running backs then. As long as he has that, he'll hammer the opposition to death.

I think a lot of ranters assume we will throw more with Mett. I've seen this on a few of the "Should RR2 leave/stay?" threads that pop up every couple hours. I don't expect that we throw anymore with Mett (unless he *have* to...meaning if we're not as dominant). This year, we've got a QB w 10 TD's and 1 Int, and he gets a whopping total of about 15 attempts/game. The QB may change, but CLM will still be giving it the RB with the least likelihood of fumbling.
2006 says you're wrong.

no he was the HC, Mike Gundy was the OC. but your overall point is right, and one that's been made. Les has a want to throw, but prob not too much with these guys unless he has to.

if you go look at our distribution with the run/pass, we threw a lot more with flynn. yes, we did have a different coordinator then, but flynn was a better passer than jl or jj. we also had the basically same depth at running back. i think we'll still be a 55-60/40-45 rush/pass team, but i do think we'll throw more with a qb with an arm like mett.

I realize Mett played JC ball, but the defenses at this level are a little better.

Not multiple 1000 yard backs... And they probably wouldn't have been k rushers in the SEC.

when was the last time LSU had 2 guys who rushed for 1,000 yards in the same season?

and OSU's backup RB ran for 918 yards...so they almost had multiple thousand yard rushers...in the same year

you're being an idiot

tatum bell was their #1 guy, and he played in the NFL for a bit. if he could play in the NFL, he could play in the SEC

but morency would have been a 1,000 yard rusher in the SEC (he had almost 1500 in the big12) also (another NFL back)

Very unlikely when you have 4 backs getting in on the action.

I think a LOT of our backs in recent history and current would produce 1k+ yards on another team against another conference.

you mean backs like keiland williams and charles scott, who couldn't even stick in the NFL (unlike tatum bell and morency)?
